Does anyone have success using KVM virtio drivers with Windows 2008 (64 bit)?
I tried using NetKVM and viostor listed here:
http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers/Download_Drivers
But as I try to install these drivers, I get "error code 39" when installing any of these drivers...
I know that it's not supported, but I was wondering if someone is using Proxmox VE with a newer kernel (for KVM only, no OpenVZ).
I have some strange network connectivity problems relating to tg3 module (host not reachable, tcpdump on the host shows absolutely no traffic, bringing down the...
VNC viewer has a "record" button, which allows to write a session to a file (I suppose).
I.e. it creates files like vncsession.fbs.001.
How can I play such recorded sessions (i.e. in a video player)?
Alternatively, how can I save the contents of a window to a video or flash file?
Is it possible not to use "-usbdevice tablet" for selected guests?
It is generating lots of interrupts, affecting responsiveness, but is normally not needed for console only Linux guests. This is especially visible with more guests running on a host.
Reference...
During host bootup, I believe all guests are started at the same time.
On a busy host with multiple guests, this can result in some guests not starting properly, i.e.:
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!
Is it possible, on host bootup, not to start all the guests at...
kvm-85 was just released:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.kvm.devel/31046
Would it be possible to build a "pvetest" release for each new kvm version and put it in ftp://pve.proxmox.com/debian/dists/etch/pvetest/binary-amd64/?
This way, there would be more feedback from users...
Something happened to my node and it is shown as "nosync" in the master interface.
This is what the master shows:
# pveca -l
CID----IPADDRESS----ROLE-STATE--------UPTIME---LOAD----MEM---ROOT---DATA
1 : 192.168.15.67 M S 21 days 02:12 4.10 40% 10% 10%
2 : 192.168.15.68 N...
That's just a hypothetical situation.
Imagine that your Proxmox VE cluster master died and you can't start it any more.
Without a cluster master, one can't start/stop/VNC guests on the other nodes (at least in the web interface).
What is the recommended way to recover from such a situation...
Is there a way to make "pipe" (|) sign work in the VNC console?
I have a German keyboard; pipe (|) sign shows up in all programs when I press "right alt + <". Unfortunately, only "<" shows up in the VNC console.
Similarly, "@" sign. It shows up when I press "right alt+q"; on VNC console...
After playing for ~2 weeks with Proxmox VE, I must say - I'm impressed. It's probably the best virtualization solution available for Linux.
Of course, improvements are always good - here is my wishlist for future releases.
Points 1 and 2 can be theoretically made by everybody even now, given a...
In the web interface for a given guest, there is a "Shutdown" button which is supposed to cleanly shutdown the guest.
What is needed on guest for this to work?
I tried it with a KVM Linux guest and it worked.
Now when I use it with another Linux guest (uses virtio_pci and other virtio_*...
Currently I'm evaluating Proxmox VE to see how it compares with other virtualization solutions.
One thing that is very nice about Xen is its serial console access to guests (it works out of the box for paravirtualized hosts).
It allows to login to a guest even when it's network-disconnected...
Web interface only allows to create bridges vmbr0 up to vmbr9.
However, I usually create bridges with a name resembling the VLAN they are in, i.e. vmbr115, vmbr200 etc.
Is it possible to use such bridges with Proxmox VE?
I have them already created in /etc/network/interfaces and they are running.
Is it possible to install Proxmox VE over network (using tftp/PXE)?
If not, what would be the best approach? Launch the server from a tftp-bootable distro, copy Proxmox CD to the HDD, then what...? How should I start the installer?
I have a remote server with a KVM switch connected, no access...
I'm trying to start a KVM guest from which used to be a VMware guest.
Document on http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Migration_of_servers_to_Proxmox_VE is pretty straightforward, but some of it doesn't apply in my case: for VMware, I didn't use file images, but raw block device.
When I try to start...
