Is there anything else i can do to assist in debugging this issue? We really would like to run backups again. Restarting the VMs every other day is quite annoying.
Just a small update on the pve-qemu-kvm 4.0.0-6 testing: I had to roll back to pve-qemu-kvm 4.0.0-5 as VMs where randomly dying during a backup run. These were not even actively backed up during the time, so the updated package seems a bit unstable.
I tried the new version and the error does not occur in the same way. Now the backups do start but get interrupted:

INFO: Backup started at 2019-10-04 00:00:02
INFO: status = running
INFO: update VM 100: -lock backup
INFO: VM Name: ABC
INFO: include disk...
Here is another trace, i hope that helps :) I had to split it due to the file restrictions in the forum. The Backup was supposed to be taken at 2019-09-28 02:15:40 CEST
No VNC does not work either and the shutdown works after a hard reset, the issue description matches with the issue you mentioned, so i will try to gather some debug logging for you :)

i am on an enterprise subscription of proxmox 6.0 and have the latest packages installed. Since a couple of days some of the backups will not be performed correctly:
