Hello all,
I try to passthrough some USB ports from host to linux vm and found that they all come out with 5000M speed and not 10G, although they show 10G when used on the host.
Is there a way to change this behaviour? Has anybody seen 10G USB devices inside a vm?
Thank you for comments.
Hello all,
I tried to find a way in proxmox to "bundle" vms together in a group which can then be addressed with functions like a single vm. Like I want to be able to migrate a pool from one node to another in a cluster. I would like to see it more like a group of vms rather than a "pool" of...
... when I have a cluster with 4 nodes, where one is down for some reason. Then I add a new node which runs perfect. Then I restart the node that was down during adding the new node. Does this work, or is it a problem in some way?
The same btw might happen if you have to restore some node from a...
Hello all,
I recently ran into the problem that an updated proxmox node cannot join a cluster with older version. So I tried to install the node with the same old proxmox version - which works. I can join the cluster. Only I had to find out that installing ifupdown2 the usual way updates...
Hello all,
I tried to join a new node today to an existing cluster with version 6.0-4. The new node has version 6.4 (I thought it would be a good idea to use the latest minor version). First everything went well, but after completion it turns out the node is not active in the cluster. It was...
Hallo zusammen,

Hello,
it seems the common config for vm drives in proxmox is file-based. But of course qemu can do more. So how do I tell proxmox to use a zfs vdev as block device inside a vm?

Lets assume we have 32 cpu cores. How can I split some of them away in a pool (lets say 8 cores) and use them from some (not all) running vms?
This is trivially possible with libvirt/qemu, but I have not found a way in proxmox.
Any ideas?

PS: AFAIK there is no option for cpu pinning...
Hello all,
We are using kernels 5.0.15-1-pve and set swappiness globally to 0 by sysctl and in all processes by using this script
(Taken from another thread around this topic)
On a host with few kvms this works as expected, (h)top shows zero used swap.
But on a host with around 20 kvms things...
Hello,
I tried to make a VNC service work inside a vm with TigerVNC. I had to find out that there seems to be a problem related to the noVNC console of the vm. You cannot start tigervnc server by systemd in the vm (arch linux), because of this crash:
(EE)
(EE) Backtrace:
(EE) 0: /usr/bin/Xvnc...
Hello all,
I have a pretty standard setup for several linux guests on Proxmox. Lately I found out by monitoring the guest interfaces with snmp that there is traffic I cannot explain. So I tried to find the cause for it and found out that every guest connected to the same bridge and subnet gets...
I just had to read in the wiki that when configuring vnc for a guest it is not possible to use a password. This is really unusable for customer access. How do you think one should enable customers to access their corresponding guests?
Hello,
I try to protect a (second) drive of some vm. With qemu/virt-manager it was easy to flag a drive read-only. But I cannot find a corresponding option in proxmox. How can I do that?
The drive is an nfs-mounted raw file, btw.

Hallo zusammen,
Hello all,
can anyone confirm that VLAN tag stacking works with Proxmox VE and bridging configured as "vlan-aware"?
We are trying to make the following work:
Many VLANs arrive at the host encapsulated in an outer VLAN 1008.
Host bridge is vlan-aware. Guest gets an interface with tag=1008. So...
