    [SOLVED] Reformat Linux Filesystem Disk

I have a 4TB hard drive plugged inside of my PVE host. The hard drive has data on it so I do need to reformat it clean first. End goal is to create a volume that I can pass through to a Windows VM on this PVE host to store media. Looking for documentation has been difficult because there are so...

Restore VMs from backup on new install

Due to an LVM issue that was blowing my mind on how to fix, I reinstalled PVE 6.3.2 on my home server. Prior to this, I kept VM backups to a separate drive. How do I properly mount this disk again and restore the VMs? Edit: I think I found my solution...

    VM Ram Usage

Trying to understand why this Windows VM says it is consuming nearly 9GB of RAM on my Proxmox host when the guest OS is only using around 3GB. What am I actually being shown here? https://imgur.com/a/1Bsx4Mg

SSH into VMs through OpenVPN tunnel

I am trying to connect from my iPhone via Termius to my Linux VMs and via Microsoft RDP to my Windows VMs. My home network DHCP server is a Netgear R6700 router. I connect to it via OpenVPN on my iPhone while using public WiFi or 4G data. I know I am 100% on the network as I can actually open up...

    QMrestore confusion

Oh wow..I missed that argument! Before I attempt this, does it matter if the VM I am overwriting is in a suspended state or still running?

    QMrestore confusion

Just looking for a bit of knowledge confirmation. I've been using vzdump to take nightly snapshot backups of my VMs. My only question here is that it seems like you cannot restore a snapshot backup to an already existing VM ID. You have to use qmrestore and give a new VM ID to be created. From...

Why did my vzdump fail to a broken pipe?

Thanks for the suggestion! Another question. For snapshot backups through Proxmox, which compression method do you recommend? LZO or GZIP? GZIP seems to compress a tad bit more than LZO.

Why did my vzdump fail to a broken pipe?

Honestly, that’s okay. The disk has a bunch of media on it but I have that all copied to an external that is passed through to the VM. How can I tell vzdump to ignore that 4TB disk and just backup the boot disk?

Why did my vzdump fail to a broken pipe?

Here is the log from my Proxmox node: vzdump 100 102 --mailto root --mode snapshot --quiet 1 --compress lzo --mailnotification always --storage vm-backups 100: 2019-06-14 01:00:01 INFO: Starting Backup of VM 100 (qemu) 100: 2019-06-14 01:00:01 INFO: status = running 100: 2019-06-14 01:00:02...

    VM Network not working

You did not define your gateway (192.168.1.1) for interface vmbr1. I may be wrong, but this would be what I would try first. You have... auto vmbr1 iface vmbr1 inet static address 192.168.1.31 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge-ports eno2 bridge-stp off bridge-fd 0 ...when it...

Single Node Backup and Monitoring Suggestions

So I have heard about Monit. Would this get installed on the Proxmox node itself or can I run it under an Ubuntu VM?

Cant ping Windows VM but has internet connection

I did not try to ping the node from the VM itself. I will try that tonight but I am sure it will not succeed. I also confirmed that the config of both Windows VMs (the one that can be pinged and the other that cannot be pinged) are working. Only difference is, I have not activated the Windows...

Cant ping Windows VM but has internet connection

On my Proxmox node, I have a Windows VM set with a static IP in the OS and on my router. The VM has internet connectivity. The network interface is set to bridged under the hardware settings of the VM in Proxmox. I have another Windows VM with the same exact setup as this VM and that one can be...

Single Node Backup and Monitoring Suggestions

So there is no way to at least backup my 4 VMs on this node to an external drive? I know my hardware is more consumer oriented but I find it hard to believe that I am out of luck there.

Single Node Backup and Monitoring Suggestions

Hi guys, now that I'm comfortable with my VM setup, I want to explore monitoring solutions that will alert me via email/text on critical events such as a hard disk failing SMART tests, unexpected reboots/shutdowns on any VM or the Proxmox node itself, etc. Also, I want to buy an 8TB external and...

[SOLVED] Remove OTP Authentication via SSH

Nope, I am 100% on my Proxmox server. I cannot post what the output of ls -la is because this forum prevents new user spam lol.... I rebooted, opened my Proxmox web interface, and still get asked for an OTP code.

[SOLVED] Remove OTP Authentication via SSH

I tried following the last section here: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/OATH(TOTP)_Authentication#Disabling_OATH_2FA_authentication Unfortunately, the /etc/pve/domains.cfg file does NOT even exist on my server. How can I disable this via SSH? I lost my phone that had the Google Authenticator app...
