Is there a way to restart the VM automatically such that VM hardware changes get applied?
I know there's a reset and reboot option, but both of these don't apply hardware changes.
I have a router running as a VM, what I would like is to fully reboot a VM 'automatically' when applying...
I have PBS setup as a VM with the specs below
Guest:
CPU - 2 cores
RAM - 6GB
Bios - OVMF
Machine - q35
Controller - VirtIO SCSI Single
OS Drive - 32GB QCOW SSD Discard on
Backup Drive - WD 4TB RE 7200RPM HDD, passthroughed to VM using SCSI and iothread = 1
PBS version - 2.3-3 Linux...
Ah but easy is no fun!
So from what I understand, USB passthrough works but adds significant overhead. Passing the chipset through would reduce that overhead. I need this because I've started putting in refurbished 8TB drives into my NAS and I do a full check of these using badblocks. I then...
Welp, no luck. This time it didn't cause the VM to stop functioning, but I was doing a badblocks scan on one of the drives attached through USB and after 17 hours the process failed.
The only warning or error I see in the logs of the VM is
reset SuperSpeed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd...
I saw something about softdep xhci_pci pre: vfio-pci on another post, but didn't understand where it went. Thank you for clarifying that. I just updated the conf file with that and restarted the host. Seems to be picking up the chipset as expected now, we'll see how long it stays connected.
I...
Hello!
Motherboard: GA-Z77X-UD3H
CPU: E3-1275 V2
I've successfully passthroughed other PCIE devices on this host and to this VM and they are absolutely stable.
I want to also passthrough the embedded VIA USB controller, so that a couple of the USB ports on the back which I use for external...
This worked for me with a Nvidia T400, Ryzen 1700x, and a Gigabyte B450M UD3H V2 on bios F60.
I was pulling my hair out because just a few days ago this same setup was working, but all of a sudden after moving some VMs around it stopped working.
If someone could update the Proxmox Wiki that'd...
Reverting to a previous kernel, in this case 5.11.x fixed it. Seems like a bug in the 5.13 kernel.
solution is here - https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/vm-not-starting-after-upgrading-kernel-and-reboot-timeout-waiting-on-systemd.104292/post-449049
make sure to read carefully and double check...
Proxmox Version: 7.1-11
Kernel: Linux 5.13.19-6-pve #1 SMP PVE 5.13.19-14
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
I have a virtual machine for Plex, I want to pass through a USB TV tuner to the VM.
I'm doing this by adding the USB device in the hardware section, using the USB Ven/Dev ID.
When I attach the...
Hey this might be a long shot, but have you checked if the LXC might be using the same IP as something else on your network? I was having weird SSH issues too and it turned out because I had used the same IP on two different systems.
How did you create a LXC with Debian 10? Afaik LXC uses the underlying OS, so that should be Debian 11.
The create container dialog doesn't even give you an OS option like the create VM option.
When you create a LXC it gives you the option at the beginning to upload a ssh public key file.
What OS are you running Plex on?
I have Plex on Debian on one proxmox node, and OMV (NAS) running on another proxmox node.
If I turn off OMV yes plex loses access to the content, but as soon as I turn OMV on again the mounts work.
The only thing I do in plex is turn off auto scanning for...
After updating to pve-kernel-5.11.22-3-pve as suggested by @t.lamprecht I haven't had kernel panics on the two nodes that presented that problem.
I enabled all the VMs on both nodes that hit the disks hard, and did a few things that are known high disk IO tasks. So far high disk IO has been...
I promise you I'm not crazy, I'm no linux grandmaster but I've been a sys admin for 3+ years now. I wouldn't post on the forums unless I was truly stuck.
I'm not finding anything from system logs, network logs, wireshark, and replacing cables.
So far its just two out of four nodes that are...
