Cyber Monitoring tools on ProxMox host?

Just FYI (anyone else that finds this) I did manage to backup the 5.X cluster and rebuild / restore an 8.0.3 cluster, then install both Carbon Black and CrowdStrike Falcon Server on the ProxMox hosts... and it's all running great.

Installing Proxmox on a server with physical RAID

This is what I remember from PVE 5 as well, but I could not do snapshots on that setup. I will have to be more careful about how I set up the storage this time around... it sounds like I did something odd during the installation.

Installing Proxmox on a server with physical RAID

This was my thought as well, raid on top of raid is a bad idea... but the btrfs install didn't seem to allow for non-raid. I had thought about LVM-thin ... I might go with that, given the options. I wasn't aware I could do snapshotting on the ext4/xfs filesystem... I thought it required qcow2 +...

Installing Proxmox on a server with physical RAID

I'm rebuilding my Proxmox server from v5.X to the latest 8.X. My system, however, has multipole hardware raid-ed disks. ZFS says it doesn't support being installed on physical RAID and I need to enable snapshots in the VMs once the system is complete. So, I want to use BTRFS as the base FS...

Cyber Monitoring tools on ProxMox host?

Thanks for the reply, I had a pretty strong feeling it would require at least the upgrade before installing... I know it's a modified kernel, just wanted to know if there were any gotcha's to be aware of

Cyber Monitoring tools on ProxMox host?

Hello all, My company is requiring installation of cybersecurity monitoring tools on our Linux systems, and there's been some question about the ProxMox servers I'm running. Currently I'm running two hosts in a cluster, I believe we're still at v5 but they are down at the moment. I don't have a...

Is it possible to migrate from VE 5.3-5 to VE 6.3 ?

Thank you for your reply. Do you mean: Backup 5.3 Reinstall 5.3 with ZFS Restore onto 5.3 Upgrade to 6.3 Or can I restore a 5.3 backup onto a 6.3 server? Thanks again

Is it possible to migrate from VE 5.3-5 to VE 6.3 ?

Hi all, I've got an older ProxMox server running 5.3-5 and I want to move my images to ProxMox 6.3 server. In the process I need to convert to ZFS filesystem (I believe it's installed with LVM right now) to enable snapshots.... I'd rather not re-create all the images if I don't have to, though...

Maximum number of VMs per Proxmox server?

Right, and memory allocated to a VM is always "in use" to some degree. I'm familiar with VMs in general, but each system is a little different. Also, I'm really interested in the Containers in Proxmox, as an alternative way to deploy software in a low-overhead way. Some of our systems require a...

Maximum number of VMs per Proxmox server?

Sorry if this is a repeat or in the FAQ somewhere, but I'm very new to Proxmox and I couldn't find it. Is there a max number of VMs I can configure on a Proxmox server? Our test environment will need 1000 VMs, probably ~200 VMs per server, with a cluster of 5 or 6 Proxmox servers. Is that a...
