Hi there,
I am am longterm proxmox user and fan and recently installed version 7.2 for the first time.
During testing I stumpled across a huge issue and need to ask you for help.
I restored a backup of a Windows 10 VM i created on a different server. Upon restoring it it crashed.
At first I...
Hi,
thank you for your huge effort. I will work through your texts as soon as i have got time. We might also have different issues, yeah, you might be right. I just tried FreeNAS to bare Metal Windows 10 and had the same ridiculuos 200MB/s over 10GbE. So its surely a FreeNAS issue, isn't it...
Hi,
Thank you for your reply,
unfortunately i am not talking about VMs at all. I have a bare metal installed FreeNAS and I am sending data to a Proxmox-Host, also on bare metal.
I am pretty convinced, that the current install of FreeNAS comes with proper drivers for Intel NICs.
I also...
Hello,
i am having a very similar or possibly even identical issue, which i described in detail here: https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/10gbe-performance-issue-in-one-direction.85552/. I managed to rule out all hardware issues and came to the same conclusion that it has something to...
Now that's interesting: dmesg shows the network driver...
[ 3.195752] tn40xx: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.
[ 3.196449] Tehuti Network Driver, 0.3.6.16.1
... BUT what I downloaded and installed from the Edimax Homepage was labelled as version 0.3.6.15 and not 0.3.6.16. What is...
modprobe tn40xx
gives me no return
sudo lsmod | grep tn40xx
returns
tn40xx 466944 0
where the 0 is in the column "uses"
So, does that mean it is loaded but not used by any device?
sudo find / -name "*tn40xx*"
Hi!
I can't remember exaclty if I verified that yesterday, but I think it is loaded.
I will post a definite answer in the evening, but I tried this method before on a different system and the kernel module did load. (Well, I guess I forced it to do so by adding it to /etc/modules. And then I...
Hello again!
Well, I just tried that card, but I have troubles getting it to work on Linux.
Sidenotes:
It works on wWindows 10 with the Driver provided by the vendor Edimax
On the website of Edimax it says that Linux kernels from 2.6 to 4.14 are supported
Regarding the installation on Linux I...
Hmmm. So is there any diagnosis data I can hand over to you and the forum users in order to determine what is the crucial difference between my System and your workstation.
I have a really messy workaround right now, really messy such that I would not dare qualifying it as a solution, but, what...
Hi!
I did try the OVMF approach. This indeed solced my graphics issues. Thanks a lot. But now I do not have any access to my keyboard and cannot launch the installation medium. Both, USB-passrthrough and PCIe-controller-card passthrough fail. Do you have any ideas for me?
Kind regards!
Hi there!
Can anyone enlighten me on how to diagnose the problem? How do you attatch a keyboard to a VM with GPU passthrough and OVMF?
It appears to me that there are two different problems regarding my OVMF-machine.
USB-passthrough does not work at all (works with SeaBios)
PCIe-Passthrough...
Is this a known OVMF issue and more important a solution?
I did a complete reinstall of proxmox, just to make sure.
Result: The moment I turn on OVMF an GPU Passthrough (whatever graphics card or operating system is used) USB ceases to function. If I use SeaBios and GPU passthrough on the...
Yeah ;-)
But seriously, I tried it with Ubuntu 18.4, Mint 18.3 and Debian 9.1
And USB passthrough works with th Windosw 10 VM, right now, which is the most scary thing of all.
If I use a previously installed Linux Mint no graphics appear, but the screen is active and blank. I can SSH into the...
There is a GRUB screen with the 710 and OVMF. Nice. But there is still the same issue with no keyboard being accessible.
I am using the usb ports 1-5 (usb 3.0, generic keyboard "hama ak 220") and port 1-13 / 1-14 (usb 1.0, logitech unifying receiver, keyboard k270). The logitech unifying...
It does not work with the Radeon 230 (which is admittedly very old, 2014 i believe). The Grub menu does not even show up. Perhaps it is not UEFI compatible?
I exchanged it with a GTX 950 (which I do not want to keep, because it should be my maintainance device, not my gaming PC). And I can see...
This worked flawlessly with the Windows 10 VM.
Now this is interesting. I set up the Linux Mint VM anew. Then I passed through the GPU. Again no graphical output. But hey. I now can SSH into the blind Linux Mint VM. See ...

Thank you! I will try this in the evening. Is there a method to convert the Winows 10 VM to OVMF? Does OVMF act in some cind of legacy mode and the installed Windows will just boot up, or do I need to e.g. transform the VM disk tp GPT or something like that? (I heard of Windows being capable of...
