GRUB error on reboot - device not found

Brilliant, thanks. Your USB boot disk works like a charm! I've managed to get logged in to the web interface and am now exporting my VMs to vzdump images to import in a clean install on a new server.

GRUB error on reboot - device not found

Regarding the disk images being zvols/datasets, is there an easy way to export one of these to an archive or such that I can put on a USB hard disk?

GRUB error on reboot - device not found

Hi fabian, The two hard drives are 3.7TB (sold as 4TB). The SSD is 223GB (sold as 250GB). They are partitioned as follows (ignore the /dev/sdd at the bottom - that is a USB drive plugged in for the purpose of backing up the data): "ls (hd0)" simply reports "unknown filesystem". I've tried...

GRUB error on reboot - device not found

Hi fabian, thanks for the quick response. The output of "set" and "ls" is as follows: > set cmdpath=(hd0) prefix=(hd0)/ROOT/pve-1@/boot/grub root=hd0 > ls (hd0) (hd0,gpt9) (hd0,gpt2) (hd0,gpt1) (hd1) (hd1,gpt9) (hd1,gpt2) (hd1,gpt1) (hd2) (hd2,gpt2) (hd2,gpt1) The ZFS pool layout is pretty...

GRUB error on reboot - device not found

We recently powered down one of our Proxmox servers, and on reboot we're hitting a GRUB error (see below for a screenshot) stating that a device is not found. There have been no hardware changes on this server for the past year, and it has been rebooted several times without error before now...

    zfs-mount.service failing at boot

Thanks for the tip. I've cleaned out "/rpool" and everything seems to be running fine now, thanks.

    zfs-mount.service failing at boot

Brilliant, that's sorted the bott issue with the cache, thanks! Only issue I have now is the "zfs-mount" service failing to start :)

    zfs-mount.service failing at boot

I've got a system set up with ZFS configured in RAID1 mode across two drives. All has been working fine, until today. I added an SSD drive to the system to use for log and cache as described here: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/ZFS_on_Linux#_zfs_administration The SSD was formatted with a GPT...

error: unknown filesystem - Proxmox VE 4.4

Actually, after reading the documentation I've gone ahead and backed up the VM I'd created and am reinstalling with ZFS, thanks for the pointer @tom!

error: unknown filesystem - Proxmox VE 4.4

Thanks. I've already got the system set up using EXT4 now, so it's probably too late to change it to ZFS. I'll keep it in mind for the future though if I do another deployment.

error: unknown filesystem - Proxmox VE 4.4

I considered ZFS, but the memory requirements put me off as this server only has 16GB memory and I need to run a Windows VM.

error: unknown filesystem - Proxmox VE 4.4

I've "resolved" this by disabling hardware RAID on the server for now. It seems like the RAID controller isn't supported (it's a Smart Array B120i controller - which isn't listed on this page: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Raid_controller#Compaq_.2F_HP). Bit of a shame, but I guess I can always...

error: unknown filesystem - Proxmox VE 4.4

I'm trying to set up Proxmox VE 4.4 on a HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 server which has a hardware raid controller and two 500GB drives installed in a raid volume. The installer ran from a CD ROM correctly, and I isntalled Proxmox to /dev/sda. When I reboot the system after installation completes...
