Proxmox with WIFI ? Any developments?

I've got a couple of old laptops running proxmox over wifi in a home lab. My work around is that I have a wifi link setup with vlans over vxlan trunk and I have piggybacked my laptops onto that trunk. As it is, my setup isn't portable for use over std wifi setup. it's reliant on my specific wifi...

    improve idle power consumption

Or the obvious if your use case supports it, poweroff when finished process then powerup when you need to run vm's again. WOL works on my home lab fine.

Slow throughput on PBS running as a VM behind a FTTC connection

WAG. network latency, router load, mismatched MTU. Run iperf between datacentre and local server.

    Offsite Backups and Drive Rotation

I run PVE backup and OMV (open media vault) on the same server. My system is only lightly loaded/used and typically powered on each night for the duration of the backups to OMV. The PVE backups are basically on demand, not scheduled. OMV has a function where you can configure a backup to be...

    Windows XP into Proxmox

If you had any antivirus s/w loaded 'at any time' on the original XP machines it may be the issue. Last year I moved an old win2k (had avast on it and norton at some point) and a win7 machine (also had avast) and had major problems with trying to get it to boot as a vm. Finally after a lot of...

Replace Failed Disk in ZFS Pool - Boot / EFI Partition

Have a read of the manual https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-sysadmin.html#_zfs_administration I'm not a 100% certain but you should be able to remove a drive then follow the instructions on the manual regarding partitioning (section on failed boot drive replacement). A google should bring...

Replace Failed Disk in ZFS Pool - Boot / EFI Partition

Try again but partition the drive first. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/any-way-to-rebuild-missing-efi-volume-from-a-zfs-mirrored-pair.91338/post-398403

Replace Failed Disk in ZFS Pool - Boot / EFI Partition

Did you partition the replacement drive first?

    Offsite Backup strategy + security

Fair call, doesn't negate the first paragraph though.

    Offsite Backup strategy + security

Setup a wireguard vpn between the two PBS servers. Wireguard itself can be locked down to only allow point to point, configure the firewall's to only allow a connection between the two sites. You would just need to port forward a single UDP port to each PBS server. As soon as you start stuffing...

PBS backup problem with failing VM backups, CT backups ok

Just tried bypassing mergerfs as you suggested to using a direct mounted path and it works fine. If anyone is interested you can edit /etc/proxmox-backup/datastore.cfg to alter the path of an existing datastore. BUT you need to make sure you have collected all of the various files saved by...

PBS backup problem with failing VM backups, CT backups ok

My setup has PBS installed on an OMV (OpenMediaVault) server with a separate PVE server, both physical servers. I can backup CT's using PBS with no problems, however when I try and perform a PBS backup of a VM it fails with the following messages: INFO: starting new backup job: vzdump 121...

    Proxmox 5.x usb automount

Appears to be working as expected. Just had an intermission to replace a failed hd in my zfs mirrored array, but all now appears to be ok. Would be nice if there was some way of unmounting the usb drive from the web gui rather than requiring a console logon but all workable.

    Proxmox 5.x usb automount

That's about all I've found as well. Only concern is the comment that it requires two accesses to mount after plugging a device in. I'll try it tomorrow and see how I get on. It's something that I feel would be useful to anyone using an external USB drive for backups.

    Proxmox 5.x usb automount

Using a previous version of proxmox (4.x) I have used usbmount to automount an external usb hard drive for storage of backups for a standalone system. With the update to 5.x and Debian Stretch usbmount doesn't appear to be part of the new debian (unsupported for several years if nothing else)...
