Hi!
Normally, I have the following run once a day as a cron job:
vzdump --snapshot --size 16384 --compress --maxfiles 7 --allBut today I wanted an extra backup, in addition to the 7 old ones, so I ran manually:
vzdump --snapshot --size 16384 --compress --alland it made the new backup, but...
I found out through this page here:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/karmic/man1/vzdump.1.html
that vzdump used to support an xdelta option to do differential backups, and that it eventually got removed, but I could not find the reason why. I have never used xdelta, therefore I have no...
After solving my /etc/hosts issue (in the host) by making it immutable, I still couldn't create a cluster. After a bit I found out hat it was due to Cluster.pm, so I tried to "fix" it like this:
root@hydra:/usr/share/perl5/PVE# diff Cluster.pm.bak Cluster.pm
182c182,183
< my $localip =...
IMHO, one of the sentences on the page:
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Central_Web-based_Management
is misleading:
To me, "access" doesn't just mean having a look at the configuration and resource usage, but also actually being able to log into the VM and perform admin tasks. While you can log...
vzdump support the following modes:
--stop
--suspend
--snapshot
I've tried them all on my VE.
While --stop guaranties consistent data, is there any advantage to using --suspend instead of --snapshot? Are backups with --suspend "more consistent" the --snapshot?
Since the running applications...
I'm using Proxmox 1.6 on a Debian Squeeze Host. I have the following issue. The IP of eth0 and vmbr0 is different, and the hostname is mapped in /etc/hosts to the vmbr0 IP (which is a "private" IP, just for the VE) instead of the eth0 IP, which is a public Internet IP. I want the mapping to be...
I'm trying to port a VirtualBox VM to Proxmox as a VE. I've got things kind of working, but my Java portal (Liferay) sometimes hangs for ever (5+ minutes) before returning a page. It's not a memory problem; I am using 2GB from 12GB ram. That is my main problem, but to solve it, I have to be able...
Using the bare-metal installer, I get a 100GB root partition. For a "small" server with two 750GB drives (in RAID1) (Hetzner EQ 4) this is more the 13% of the space. Since the OS itself takes under 1GB, and backups should be stored elsewhere, what do you need the rest 99GB for? tmp space? VE...
I just got my first Proxmox installation working (well, almost).
I noticed that the instruction on setting up Shorewall as firewall for Proxmox leave some incoming ports open:
rules:ACCEPT net fw tcp 443,5900:5999
I understand that "5900:5999" is for the VNC...
Hi.
I've just spent almost a day (around 8 hours) trying to get Debian Lenny to install GRUB, which seems to be a requirement for Proxmox, but to no avail. It just refused saying that it does not work when the root is on a (software) RAID. :(
Then I realized that Squeeze Beta1 just came out...
The installation guide describes how to install Proxmox VE on top of Lenny x64 (which is my only option), but does not give any hints about how the system should be partitioned. It's a pain to change the partitioning of a system after you installed and configured it, in particular if you can...
Openfiler looks like a great solution for providing your own iSCSI for the other VE / VM. Unfortunatly it does not seem possible to run it as a VE, and I would not want my iSCSI server to have virtualized IO, as it's IO performance is critical to *all* other VE / VM in that use-case.
Can I have a Proxmox cluster with NAT, and have the VE keep the same LAN IP when they move between hosts? Can every host have the same gateway (IP) configured?
It seems there are 3 ways of connecting VM/VE to the outside world: routed, bridged, and NAT. Is there a post/wiki that explains in detail what happens to the IP of a VM/VE that is live-migrated under those 3 setups?
Also, how to support the scenario where you want to move an Internet server...
Hello all! This is my first post, and I haven't used Proxmox before, so I have a lot to ask, but didn't want to do several posts, because I would have had to repeat my long “foreword”.
My Goal: I want to create and host Java-based websites. I'm going to rent some dedicated server(s) on...
