    Thin Provisioning shrink size

Hi Guys, On our own proxmox server we have the issue that our local-lvm (ssd-raid) is almost full. We have a lvm-thin storage disk. We use raw files for the virtual machines and mostly VIRTIO (for the windows) and IDE for the debians. We moved a lot of data out of the virtual machines in to...

    Proxmox V3.4-11 to V5.1

We noticed, backupping via the vzdump tool works perfectly for any VM. Except for windows. They somehow corrupt data while backupping online (v3.1). Especially with a SQL of Exchange server, it just went beserk :) So i don't need to adjust anything in the virtual machine settings for v5.1?

    Proxmox V3.4-11 to V5.1

Hi Guys, This weekend we migrated from proxmox v3.4-11 to version V5.1. We backupped every machine, copied the qcow2 file(s) to our NAS (via NFS) and we reinstalled to V5.1. We then restored the Linux machines via the restore tool in proxmox and we recreated the windows machines and coupled...

SSD Setup with huge write loads

160GB/day does sound a lot for this setup. On the other hand, 100GB is nothing! I will check the TBW of other customers. I did some fast calculation: 160GB/day = 6,67GB/hour = 113MB/minute = 1.89MB/sec which is not very mucht at all :) 1 pfsense firewall which really doesn't do anything on the...

SSD Setup with huge write loads

I had 5 minutes of time and checked the smart values of a ssd (i don't know which one :) ) 241 Total_LBAs_Written 0x0032 099 099 000 Old_age Always - 175160135670 Which is a wooping 89 TB. Which is a lot! So it really is suffering of high values of writes which I...

SSD Setup with huge write loads

If i must believe megaraidsas-status/iDraq everyting is allright. No smart status failed or degraded raid sets. Attached I have a graph of the "same" server setup from another customer. It has only 2 windows servers and a lot less load if I must say. But you can see there is a big difference...

ProxMox 4.0 : Windows Server Backup

Hi Guys, New customer, new server, new proxmox install, new setup. Problem: For the backup of Windows Servers we use Windows Server backup, it's not bad, but not very good either. But that is not the problem, normally we add a disk to the virtual machine and dedicate it to the backup program...

Windows Clients Freeze on Proxmox 3.4-6

Thanks christophe, Today we were at another customer with the same setup (other physical server). He doesn't have this problem. The only difference (exept the physical hardware) is the cache. With the working customer it is default (none) and with the freezing server it is writetrough. So my...
