[SOLVED] PVE 5.x to 6.x upgrade wants to remove proxmox-ve

My case was not covered by the wiki troubleshooting section - after a debugging session I've found that I have ceph packages even though I've never used them, and need to add the ceph repo: echo "deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/ceph-luminous buster main" >...

[SOLVED] Cluster split - no way to join again - Proxmox 5.1

So in case someone needs this information: pm3 had to be reinstalled to get rid of old cluster settings pm3 did not join cluster after reinstall too moving to unicast communication was the trick that allowed pm3 to join the cluster Following the unicast instructions was straightforward on pm4/5...

[SOLVED] Cluster split - no way to join again - Proxmox 5.1

Thanks. Tried it yesterday, without success. I've just managed to gain quorum on the pm4/pm5 split by executing pvecm expected 2 When the pm4/5 had their quorum back, I could delete pmtmp and pm3 nodes. I didn't try rejoining pm3 to the cluster yet, waiting for the backups to complete first.

[SOLVED] Cluster split - no way to join again - Proxmox 5.1

We have a 4-nodes cluster, 3 nodes with actual VMs (pm3, pm4, pm5) and 4th (pmtmp) was just there for quorum (it used to be a 2+1 cluster originally). After some update pm4 and pm5 lost connectivity to pm3 and pmtmp and the cluster has split. They couldn't ping each other, it was a...

    SimFS exploit - Problem?

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH DIETMAR'S KERNEL! In our case not only the network doesn't work, all VMs don't start too with some random error codes (different code for each VM). EDIT: The error codes were 47 and 62, not different for each VM. Network related problems I've found in syslog: So...

    Crash in an OpenVZ VM

I have imported a cPanel server to an OpenVZ container on the latest no-subscription PVE. After about an hour or two of running the container, it reproducibly crashes with a filesystem-related error with processes in D state. The container then behaves as it has no disk access, while hardware...

    RRD graphs in PVE

Thanks for pointing me to pvestatd. Updating didn't help, however I noticed this in daemon.log: openvz console cleanup error: unable to parse config line: DISKSPACE="2G:2.2G" I found which config file contains this line and changed it to old-style block limit. That fixed it.

    RRD graphs in PVE

Hello, I'm having a problem with RRD graphs in PVE web interface. On some servers they work, while on others the pictures are broken like this: When I right-click and select "open image in new tab", this is what the "image" being served looks like: I checked /var/lib/rrdcached/db/pve2-vm...

KVM command line options from GUI

    I've found it: args: -machine pc,kernel_irqchip=on -no-hpet -no-kvm-pit-reinjection in /etc/pve/qemu-server/$VMID.conf

KVM command line options from GUI

Hello, I have discovered that adding an option to kvm command line (-machine pc,kernel_irqchip=on) makes it behave how I want. It was fine to run it from console for testing, but I'd like to make my changes persistent - is there a file I can edit or, even better, a menu in PVE web gui I can use?

    I/O separation

Well, I tried the Deadline scheduler today (on server hardware, not on my laptop) and when running fio in one container, the websites on other containers didn't respond...

    I/O separation

This is interesting. Too bad that deadline does not support ionice/ioprio, but still it may be better than non-working CFQ. Thanks!

    I/O separation

Thanks for your answer, charnov. The other containers have a priority of 4 by default, so every one of them should receive ~1.5x more time than a container with prio=1. This wasn't the case, though...

    I/O separation

I will, but i/o priorities are not a new feature and I don't think updating 2 minor versions up will help. Does someone have an actual advice or experience with I/O issues in OpenVZ?

    I/O separation

Hi everyone, Recently I received a notification from Nagios about high server load. All virtual machines have been slow - web pages were loading slowly, SSH login took almost a minute. There were many processes in D state. Using iotop and my patched vztop, I've quickly located the problem -...

    vztop doesn't display VEID

I figured it out. Below is a patch against 2.0.11-2 which: 1. Fixes N/A veids 2. Fixes build under proxmox 3. enables showing VEID by default (because what's the point of running vztop without showing veid?) http://massivescale.net/contrib/vztop_veid.txt

    VNC-Console - keyboard issue

This is an issue in every browser - I tried Opera (Proxmox doesn't work at all), Chrome and Firefox (same problem as described - can't use tab because browser hijacks keys - impossible to go through freebsd installer, for example). Also, TigerVNC as advised by wiki does not work -...
