OK, so put vms in lvm storage is a good idea, but when you expand a lvm that is used like / for the vm1, do you have to do any process in the vm guest? or all in host with the vm1 down? thks
dietmar, thks for the response, but e100 didnt answer my quiestion, my really question is why lvm is not recommented and in other hand proxmox prefer use of lvm insted of loop devices to can use snapshots?
thnks
No responses to my question? So lvm its not safe??? Its shocking for me but seems its knows for many people including the proxmox developer like no one pay attention to this post.
thks.
Thanks for all yours responses but no one told me if its safe to use lvm in virtual manchines. And in other hand if anyone read this link: "http://serverfault.com/questions/279571/lvm-dangers-and-caveats" no one want to use lvm anymore, jeje, i dont know i have no issues with my systems in 10...
Hi, and now i see this wiki page: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Software_RAID
Where say that proxmox use want to use LVM2 to do snapshots, so ? why LVM is not recommended to virtual manchines and in other hand its useful to do snapshots?
thnks
I have used smeserver for 8 years without problems, so now i am trying distros for virtualize mys servers, rigth now i am trying proxmox so i saw if exist eny info about smeserver and yes i found this link en the wiki : http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/SMEServer_KVM, but the part of this wiki page...
Because of like it say standart, i think thats the desktop edition, and also because is a early version 8.04.1 when the current is 8.04.3, so is the server edition? can i update to 8.04.3 from this or not?
thanks
bye
Why you use kvm? just install openvz ubuntu 8.04 and then use the repos to install ebox. The only problem is that openvz ubuntu 8.04.1 is the desktop edition and not the server, thats why i vote to have and server 8.04.3 appliance.
bye
Yes, but thats easy to solve if we have a Virtual ubuntu 8.04.3 server appliance, so i vote for ebox appliance but i think better idea to have and Virtual ubuntu 8.04.3 server appliance and install repos form ebox.
bye
OK, but my question is if with kernel updates the setup doesnt broke, like diermar told in an old post, can you understand the question? sorry about my english, i am from argentina.
thks
Dietmar, may question was:
"Still with the 1.3 version? or now we are able to use proxmox kernel with swraid without problems in kernel update?"
I will be grateful if you can asnswer it.
thks
So you have bios raid (dmraid) work with debian, and with the proxmox 1.3 kernel, thats true? you use dmraid? or an intel driver? i think that intel drivers are only for rhel or novell.
thks
The motherboard could broken, or the cpu, etc.., in an homemade environment, use a 12v batery in pararell with the disks solve the problem, like old car stereos, jeje, i will try.
thks

fromport do you need to do the same in every kernel update? or with teh kernel of version 1.3 and up, this problem dont exist?
I was reading all the posts about linux raid and i realice that the whole problem is about bateries to keep the cache write the disk in a power down situation, so I...
Dietmar, so if i install debian on linux raid, i can install el proxmox packages via a repo, but you have a diferent kernel, that kernel will support my already created linux raid? or i have to do a kernel compilation to get enable?
thks from argentina
