Hi Tom,
Thank you for your prompt reply,
I guess I had figured out the problem.
The blue screen of death dissapears if I set cache: no-cache !
Earlier I was using "Write-Back" cache, thinking I could use this since my raid card supports write-back with bbu.
After setting to no-cache, the...
Hello,
I have a test system on Proxmox 2.0 Beta.
After moving a windows 2008R2 vm from promox 1.9 to 2.0 successfully.
I notice the windows startup prompted for driver for the new virtio io controller, the old virtio io driver is no longer accepted, therefore I downloaded the latest...
Strangely the raid BIOS works perfectly showing me I had foreign array configurations and allow me to import them.
It is able to read and configure all the hard disk too.
Ok, the issue is definately not due to kernel and drivers,
I am suspecting it may be far more complicated hardware...
Hi Tom,
While on the old Megaraid 8344ELP, I updated all proxmox modules and kernel to 2.6.32-6-pve
server:~# modinfo megaraid_sas

Ok. i just tried swaping to the new 6gbps megaraid 9240-8i on the disk array with proxmox-ve-2.6.18 installed.
Same problem as the other proxmox kernel version, boot up stops at:
GNU GRUB version 0.97 (0K lower / 0K upper memory)
[ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first...
Hi Tom,
I just tried downgrading to proxmox-ve-2.6.18,
however the system went offline and could not connect to network after installing proxmox-ve-2.6.18 and reboot.
Could be lack of network driver support for my system?
I then quickly switched back to proxmox-ve-2.6.32.
Perhaps I should...
hmmm....
ubuntu 10.04.2 comes with megaraid driver 4.01 too and it did not work as well.
however centOS 5.4 comes with megaraid driver 4.08-RH2 and it works perfectly fine.
I belive the issue is with driver 4.01, i can't wait to test your upcoming 2.6.32-6-pve!! :D
sorry for the confusion, the kernel I am using is: pve-kernel-2.6.32-5-pve: which is kernel 2.6.32-36 ?
That should have the driver support, but didn't work out.
Ok. after much searching around, it seems that it was the driver for megaraid 9240 9260 9280 8704 8708 8880 8888 not supported until kernel 2.6.32-29 (http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2010/12/msg00246.html)
Proxmox current latest kernel 2.6.32-5, I have tried upgrading kernel to 2.6.35-1...
My server was originally running proxmox 1.8 happily on a megaraid 8344ELP,
however after installing new megaraid 9240-8i (due to 6gbps support) and imported the raid array+configurations, proxmox boot up now shows:
GNU GRUB version 0.97 (0K lower / 0K upper memory)
[ Minimal BASH-like line...
I would like to know how this can be done as well.
Passing the args param to kvm is not sufficient, you also need to extract the actual HP SLIC table and recompile SeaBIOS
There were serveral post about the SLIC table, but I could not get it working too thou...
I have the exact same issue with a KVM win 2008 R2 64bit guest using Virtio nic.
I am using the latest Fedora drivers.
Using any other nic does not have this problem.
pveversion -v
