    Kernel questions 2.6.18-6-pve

Tom, can you PLEASE, PLEASE answer my question without this generic 'use the last update' answer? I need a real world solution to a real world problem. Is there a way to obtain the .18 kernel? Or can we use a mixed .18/.32 cluster? Thank you very much in advance.

    Kernel questions 2.6.18-6-pve

We have a production cluster running with Proxmox 1.8 using kernel 2.6.18-6-pve I noew need to add a new machine to this cluster. After install the default kernel is installed (.32) this was always the case so I looked up how we used to change the kernel to have the Openvz support we need. It...

    pty not found

After a reboot of one of our Centos containers we suddenly could not login anymore: Unable to open pty: No such file or directory I found many threads in google mentioning the same problem with a quick fix. I tried and edited /etc/rc.sysinit en commented the line: /sbin/start_udev After that I...

    proxwww Login problem

I cannot reach my webinterface. Last night I pulled the plug on a unused (but configured) NFS that was connected to Proxmox. Is that the cause? How do I reset this? Thanks!

Suddenly no conf file for container?

The problem seems to be that some site is hacked in one of the containers. It uploaded scripts in several other sites that did somthing with UDP to poort 53, we've blocked the port on the container so we can search in rest. No idea if it is related. In /etc/vz/conf there are no config files...

Suddenly no conf file for container?

I log into a node and want to vzctl enter "containernumber" and suddenly it says: Container config file does not exist Tonight I was in the datacenter because of some weird problems we're experiencing and then I could just enter the container without problems. I looked in /etc/vz/conf and...

Proxmox on Hetzner, Guest can't reach internet

Dear tofigh, I'm curious about what the problem was? I'm considering Deploying a proxmox server at Hetzner and wonder if I will run into problems in the future with updates if I follow their alternative installation guide (PMVE on top of a Debian install).

No vzdumps on all nodes this morning

Hi Dietmar, First my compliments for the always quick support you give us here. I can see in Syslog that cron gave all the commands. I restarted cron on all nodes and the first test seems to work... Really weird...

No vzdumps on all nodes this morning

I just woke up and feel like i'm still dreaming. Of our six nodes only one has runned its backups tonight. I've never seen this before. I've even no idea where to start looking?

    Speed up Rsync?

Every night we backup our 6 nodes to usbdisks that are attached to each node. Then during the day all these backups are copied to a 7th node with Rsync for storage. A few weeks ago we changed from pve-kernel-2.6.24-7-pve: 2.6.24-8 to pve-kernel-2.6.18-6-pve: 2.6.18-15. The good news is that...

Yes you can, see 'man vzdump' for the maxfiles setting.

    strange things on vzdump

We've only used snapshotmode. I understood this is the preferred way of backup up. 'Stop' is not an option since we would get a lot of complaints then (they are all hostingservers).

    strange things on vzdump

Does anyone please have any hints or tips how we can solve this? Its driving me crazy, every morning I have to manually check and restart backups on three nodes that have failed with these errors.

    strange things on vzdump

Ah sorry, no everything is standard configuration. Only change we made was altering the dump filesuze to 2048. But as said before, the weird thing is that when you restart the failed backups again in the morning they run fine most of the time. We also had a case where suddenly the backup failed...

    strange things on vzdump

We've had this problem in all versions. Currently we're using 2.6.18 and its the same problem. We've also tried changing io scheduler but this makes no difference.

    strange things on vzdump

I have the exact same issues since ages. I discovered that small things like a cronjob that makes a Mysqldump can screw the backup although the load is not visibly affected. Also the problem seems to comes and go. At the moment its worse then ever. Some nodes are affected, some not, very weird...
