Hi, strangely enough, I've found for PVE it's easiest to just use a VMWare compatible display driver. The Default and VGA seem to have problems. This fixed any issue I had with the VM crashing after install (seemed like MBR problem at first, Jung hung on boot), I also had success in setting up...
I have Host and guest OS's and everything working fine, IP's routed to specific VM's so they cannot change IP's.. But how can we filter traffic from old machines MAC addresses?? seeing as iptables is meant to have a mac module by default? is there some place in gui to add !MAC filter at VM...
If you have direct access to your cluster and VM's why not just disable root login on each VM?? Proxmox firewall is pretty tricky to figure out especially if your using more than one IP. However it is definitely possible... Have you activated firewall on the VNIC? After i did that the first time...
ALSO one thing to note. When doing port scans from a Guest OS, it used to show our server IP in TRACEROUTE.... NOW we are transparent to guest OS, and our only IP link is our VPN which also runs on a proxmox VPS which is set to start on boot with the host machine, and root login for ssh disabled.
The problem was completely dependent on IP configuration, and we have had numerous attacks on our server as of recent weeks. Basically to put it simply we were having issues getting VM's to connect once firewall was enabled on the VNIC, This is because our VM's are on a separate IP block to the...
I'm also trying to work around this, for me anytime i activate firewall on vm level, it blocks all traffic and i cannot get the packets flowing at all.... Judging from this being a 2yr old post, i probably won't find the needed information here either.
I have not much experience, but by default i am petty sure you should be able to set up the extra block of IP's in a kvm install with google nameservers, just use bridged mode to your physical NIC on every new VM, Every IP is routed to the server NIC and can be accessed by VM's without issue. I...
Is there any way around this? I have access to a VM running on a proxmox server, which claims to be running Kali-linux without much problem?
Maybe some template available, or the Kali mini ISO?
And could you offer some explanation as to why most Linux distros will work, and Windows should work...
Hi udo,
I am trying to install Kali-linux 2.0 Debian based guest, on a dedicated server in a rack. The ISO media boots fine, but after install all i get is "booting from disk...." and hangs there forever. I then have to re-boot the host to shut down the VM because it wont let me do it from...
Hello, i have Proxmox running on a dedicated server, the installation seems to have gone well, but now when creating a VM this is also okay when we only run live mode, but for some reason when we run an install and restart, the vm no longer boots... Any help in this would be much appreciated...
