Proxmox 6 - Ceph MDS stuck on creating

Hi there. I installed proxmox 6, created a cluster, installed ceph through the proxmox GUI and then created the OSD through the GUI, along with cephfs and the MDS. This has to be from the ceph upgrade, since the prior version (14.2.1 or something) worked fine. Nothing was changed on proxmox...

    Update best practices

Please read my above reply. I'm pretty happy with my current setup. I don't need their subscription support. Everything in their repo can be installed manually with the debian packaging - it just won't be on the proxmox gui.

    Update best practices

The exact way I just mentioned. The repo is just deb packages. You can move and install deb packages between nodes. EDIT: It's not my job to tell you how to admin your cluster. And if you have a subscription with proxmox that includes support. They can help you with this setup. I would...

    Update best practices

Yes, what about it? Download the .deb packages (QEMU/Proxmox/Kernel) with your public facing server, copy packages to private servers and run dpkg -i There are a lot of ways around this issue.

    Update best practices

Proxmox shouldn't be on a public network so security updates would only apply to the kernel and qemu/lxc. Everything else would just open up the possibility of bugs. Ceph, the proxmox cluster, etc - they should all be on their own private network.

Proxmox 6 - Ceph MDS stuck on creating

Update: Have fully reinstalled all proxmox nodes and recreated the cluster. Same issue.

    Error 43

I've tried everything I can think of leading me to conclude the AMD gpu needs to manually load in the vbios, unless I'm doing the ioapic wrong since I'm used to libvirt. I've also tried to load the intel iGPU. This does not throw error 43 and everything indicates the device is working (include...

    Error 43

Using Q35 with windows 10 my guest VM is getting error 43 on the GPU. I have hidden KVM and set vender_id but can't find how to set ioapci driver.

    Ceph OSD encryption

Right, I'm more concerned about physical attacks and like you mentioned sensitive data. So each monitor would need to have root file system encryption to secure the keys, correct?

(outbound) network CPU usage is high

I'm running a pfsense router on Proxmox 6.0. I can't rule out a pfsense issue here, but considering NAT is disabled on outbound it seems unlikely. CPU usage inbound @ 500Mbps is around 40% on a core. Outbound is 110%. In: https://i.imgur.com/yFoceap.png Out: https://i.imgur.com/sKtdXBF.png VM...

    Ceph OSD encryption

I haven't messed with it yet, but I'm assuming the admin.key unlocks the encrypted OSD. In which case, that key is on every node? Or the monitor nodes? Anyway, point is - how would you go about securing your setup from unauthorized access in the event of a physical attack which iirc is the whole...

So will 14.2.2 be coming to Proxmox 6.0 (without subscription) ? Ceph is officially recommending everyone upgrade to 14.2.2.

Proxmox Crashing on Hetzner Server with Intel I219-LM NIC

The guide you linked to ain't for Proxmox 6.0. 6.0 has a different kernel, different drivers and iirc Debian was upgraded as well. My supermicro 1U's use the Intel I210-LM with no issue. I don't think there is much of a difference between the two but could be wrong. IIRC hetzner offers a...

Help with Ryzen + HDD +SSD Cache Install

What's the question specifically? You can add cache drives to ZFS. I wouldn't recommend it since iirc L2 Arc also uses RAM and the bigger the cache drive the more it uses. You'd probably want something like bcache. You can also configure the LVM's to use cache. ZIL/SLOG might be helpful for you...

Proxmox Crashing on Hetzner Server with Intel I219-LM NIC

It's been around a year since I used hetzner but iirc every included ISO in the rescue system had those modifications. I found out about it the hard way when I ran into some compatibility issues and then I ran a file check on a blank OS installed at home vs what they installed. The only way to...

Proxmox Crashing on Hetzner Server with Intel I219-LM NIC

You need to install the proxmox iso. IIRC hetzners instructions are to install the apt sources and do an in-place upgrade on their preinstalled distro for proxmox. What they don't tell you is during the initial OS installation process on their rescue tool they modify a lot of core files - such...

    Ceph version upgrade

Will Proxmox 6 be keeping up with ceph releases (current 14.2.2)? If not, would there be any issues with compiling on my own and creating my own deb packaging? Thx!
