I have proxmox installed and two nodes created. I want to create new VMs but I don't know how to assign an external public IP to the VM so that the server can be reached from the outside. Any advise is appreciated.
I assumed that it would let me shell out to the OS of the VM or the NODE. When I do, it doesn't do anything. Please advise it's function and how to remotely shell out to the NODE.
I created a new VM following the steps in create VM. However once started the VM produces a communications error. How do I fix this? Is this because there isn't a specific IP bound to that VM? How do I get the VM accessible from the outside?
I already figured out that the drive had to be replaced. All I need to know is can I simply swap the new drive for the old one? Or is there other steps I need to take? End of story.
Unfortunately there isn't an open USB port on the machine. So I will have to remove the existing USB then plug in the new one. Is there anything I have to do to add this to Proxmox to get it to begin backing up on the new drive? Is it as simple as unplug one and plug in the new one? Will the...
Solved? No not yet. I need the steps to solve it. I am not sure if I can just swap the drives, if there is preparation to the new drive required so no it's not solved at this point.
So I have sourced a new larger USB HDD. Can I simply swap the drives or do I need to format it a certain way or establish a specificed folder path on the new drive? Can I simply copy the old drive to the new drive and then remove the old drive from the system? What steps do I need to take to...
It is backed up to a USB drive attached to the server. It does seem to be full. When I try to delete some backups it either times out or I get this message. can't lock file '/var/lock/pve-manager/pve-storage-usb_backup' - got timeout (500) How can I remove selected backups if the built in...
I have a cluster with two nodes. The backups have been running fine. Recently I now get this error on a couple VMs on ONE node. write write error broken pipe. What does that mean? How do I fix that? I have rebooted the Failed VMs hoping that might cause the broken pipes to reconnect, but...
Re: Looking for a Proxmox mentor to assist small organization to upgrade a Proxmox in
That's the problem. There isn't an open source app to do what that one does as well as it does it. The linux apps all cost considerably more for their "subscriptions" than burning MS keys. The issue is in...
Re: Looking for a Proxmox mentor to assist small organization to upgrade a Proxmox in
We don't have volume licensing as we only have one windows VM. I agree & understand about the MS issue. However if the application that you are using or want to use is based on Windows. Then you are stuck...
We are looking for somebody to mentor us in a Proxmox upgrade. Prior attempts have failed with the Windows server VM wanting to reauthenticate a new Key each time it is moved or PM is upgraded. We must be doing something wrong. Can anyone help to fix this?
The problem with that is that every time you reactivate it it burns another license from the set. That is what I am trying to avoid. It should let me do so without costing me a license key.
Yes we have volume license. Why does that make any difference? Does anyone know how to do this? Yes I am sure it is seeing a virtual hardware change but that shouldn't mean I have to burn a license everytime I add ram or make another core available to it. There must be a way isn't there?
