I want to have an off site copy of Proxox as installed. that way should the server be destroyed, I can replicate the server as easily as buying a new one and restoring the files to a fresh linux install. I currently run everything on one large drive. Not ideal but this is how the system was...
I am looking to create an image backup of Proxmox. I already have VM Backups but I would like to not have to reinstall Proxmox should I have a hard drive failure. I am hoping for something that I can just copy back to the new drive and then restore the VMs. Can I just copy via SFTP a list of...
I read that, BUT I don't see how to use S@FS with proxmox. I don't see anything here about how to mount that volume in Linux so that it shows as a storage device in Proxmox That article looks like how to use Wasabi in the place of S3 in servers where an Amazon S3 API has alredy been installed.
Has anyone found a way to use Wasabi as a potential hot backup location? Prices are great, $5/TB/month. The issue is I cannot figure out how to get it to mount as a linux drive so that Proxmox can just back up to it.
Anyone have any ideas or skills on how to do this?
Everything I read looked like local file storage solutions. I didn't see anything that jumped out at me as network storage like backing up to Amazon or to another generic server somewhere.
Hmm I thought the whole point of proxmox and VMs was that the VM was fully inclusive of all resources it needs? When I asked about moving VMs there was never a comment about any of this. Simply backup the VM, move it to the new node, then restore the vm. Not sure how I fix this.
I moved a working windows Server VM from one node to another. I used the backup and restore function. However the VM fails to boot. I have tried selecting the legacy boot but It doesn't seem to stay selected. All my linux vms have been moved with few issues. Is there something that I am...
Has anyone used an amazon cloud backup with Proxmox? Something running within PX vs manually shutting down a VM copying it to AWS S3. Can You pipe to an external backup?
I am looking for opinions on using another server simply as storage for running our daily backups to vs trying to attach a USB type drive. Please advise your thoughts. I assume I first have to get it to mount to the server as a drive then simply use it as a regular drive? This is for...
Having a discussion with another dev.
He says that KVMs do not need to be updated or converted. That I can basically take the existing server. Back up all the KVM VMs. Then just update the nodes ONLY and when the nodes are up to 5.2, then simply restore the VMs to the nodes. Correct? I am hoping...
