you can try taming your windows commit memory hungry VMs by using

I am running into memory issues on a another proxmox setup I have and will try that as soon as time will allow. Currently far too busy with stuff, this forum being one of them ;)
I can confirm the following;
GPU passthough with the gear I have using the underlying virtualization stack of proxomx (I believe it is kvm/qemu) used to be non trivial.
With the latest kernel 5.11 and what not gotten by using proxmox 7 things got a whole lot easier.
Also contrary to the...
@bobmc , can you please elaborate? i.e. Did you mean SR-IOV? Multiple VM's running on the same host with the same card passed through but not turned on at the same time? Or more in general had multiple successes over several proxmox setups?
When running;
pveperf [options]
I never get results including
BUFFERED READS: xxx MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME: xxx ms
I am running the latest pve 7 fully upgraded
Anyone know what's going on and how to also include those stats?
Hello Ph0x, I never meant to step on your toes. In fact it was you that involved yourself with my threads.
Please teach me where I went wrong in your opinion. I am here to learn and I value your input.
Let's prevent getting carried away ok?
@ph0x I am super ecstatic. Let a man revel in his joy please? ;)
And also since my original post is closed as Solved. Perhaps someone can throw in another bone or two
yeah sure these are not 'server' components. But let me tell you this. this seems to be kicking ass at the moment.
Sure hard core enterprise ssd's will make this system look like a snail but
pveperf /vmpool
CPU BOGOMIPS: 742448.64
REGEX/SECOND: 3904958
HD SIZE: 1335.86 GB...
I am totally in love with the proxmox 7. GPU and Audio passthrough work straight out of the box!!!!
Even multiple trx 2060+ to one VM is happy camping.
Next on my to do is make sure my 10GB NICs are actually 10GB Nics
Current system;
* AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X (CPU (64 core - 128 threads))...
thanks all for the in depth explanations, patience and what not.
I am extactic at the moment.
I am considering getting an additional 2 wd blacks for an extra striped mirror. if you guys think i could even get more speed with that
currently I got this;
pveperf
CPU BOGOMIPS: 742462.72
REGEX/SECOND: 4060522
HD SIZE: 899.00 GB (rpool/ROOT/pve-1)
FSYNCS/SECOND: 532.78
OS running on 2 samsung 980 pro ssd's in the slow m.2 sockets on the mobo. Not sure why I am getting double the speed now as before...
hmm I have been running this system for around a year now but the amount of hours is but around 100 something days.
I believe the data is more accurate than my memory so I must have been using a different setup earlier but for the life of me I can't remember
@Dunuin
this is the read out of the ssd with 4% wearout
