Performance of Win 2008 R2 in Hyper-V and KVM

Hi everyone, I have two identical computers: HP DL180G5, E5405, 12GB RAM, several SATA disks. I have installed Hyper-V 2008 R2 on the first server and Proxmox 2.0 on the second. On both servers I installed Windows 2008 R2 with 1 virtual CPU. I ran Crystal Disk Mark on both VMs. The result You...

    Time inside the VM

Hi! I've installed Win 2008 R2 on the PM 2.0b2. And I have the next problem: during the write test the time inside the virtual machine slows up to 5 times.

Disk I/O Benchmarks of Proxmox / KVM Disk Types

    CPU load is very high

Hi! I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 with Samba4 on KVM & LVM. When I copy files to this server, the CPU is heavily loaded, while the copy speed is very small. top - 09:24:42 up 7 days, 20:42, 2 users, load average: 2.90, 3.49, 3.17 Tasks: 104 total, 4 running, 100 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0...

VM Managet shows the wrong disk information

Thanks. It helped me, but partially. I've corrected the tags and the unused disks disappeared. However I still have the disk with a zero size. Hardware device list for VM 101 Hard disks Bus Device Size (GB) Volume ID IDE IDE 0:0 0.00 drbdvg0:vm-101-disk-1 VIRTIO...

VM Managet shows the wrong disk information

I created LVM disks for some VMs by hand. Now VM Manager shows these disks with 0 size and some disks from other VMs as unused. Hardware device list for VM 101 Hard disks Bus Device Size (GB) Volume ID IDE IDE 0:0 0.00 drbdvg0:vm-101-disk-1 VIRTIO VIRTIO 0:0...

Shared volume for configuration files of VMs

Hi! Sorry, but I have not found any information about this. Are there any reasons for why don't you want to do a shared volume for storing the configuration files of VMs? In this case if one of the nodes in cluster will be stopped, all of its VMs can easily be run on the other nodes without...

    DRBD/Suggestion

I'm not asking about why the DRBD on my cluster brokes the link, but how PVE solves this problem. I suggest how to resolve this problem, but enybody don't hear me. And more, now, if any node of cluster is down, there is no a possibility to start VMs, that worked on that node.

    DRBD/Suggestion

It's strange to hear this from the developer of a HA cluster. Why then all clusters are needed? Enough to find all the causes of failure of servers.

    DRBD/Suggestion

Hi, everybody! I have the next problem. I'm using pve 1.4. Regularly my DRBD switches to a StandAlong mode. I can't find why still, may be there is a trouble in a network. All VMs on both nodes continue to work, but DRBD doesn't synchronize. In this case I can't use live migration to move all...

New kernel release (pvetest repository) with kvm-kmod-2.6.31.6

Hi, everybody! I have upgraded one of the two nodes on my cluster to pvetest and I have tried to migrate the VM with Windows XP from stable pve 1.4 node to new node. After migration my VM stoped and I found the next in syslog: Nov 16 11:02:11 cl9 qm[3620]: VM 101 start Nov 16 11:02:11 cl9...

    Master is fail

I think, the best way to do this is having config files of VMs on all nodes of cluster and to mark in each config file (or an other methods) the host on which the VM is running. If node on which was run the VM becomes down, any other randomly selected node can run that VM. I have realised this...

    DRBD splited

This is so, but now I have to stop all virtual machines on one node, transfer them to another (about 1TB), and then restore the DRBD. I do not know how long the cluster is in a vulnerable state. Cluster manager must show that there is a problem in storage. May be DRBD volumes for VMs on top of...
