How do I add PBS to PVE?

Hi Tom, ... I wasn't able to add it using the GUI (pve is up2date...) but managed to add it using command line... Still, when I try to create a backup, this is what happens (backup fails): 2020-07-11T11:36:20+02:00: starting new backup on datastore 'pbs01': "vm/802/2020-07-11T09:36:20Z"...

    Using CIFS/NFS as datastore

Hi, I seem to have made it run with NFS. Best Tip I can give you is to check the NFS Server permissions (user-mapping / root-squash). Permissions on your backup mount must be 755. Tobias P.S: what a stupid mistake on my side...

    Using CIFS/NFS as datastore

Hi I have installed pbs as a vm right now (using cpu=host in order to get aes support) but I am not 100% convinced that, on the long run, running the backup server as a VM is the way to go. In case your VM Cluster completely breaks down... could be a nightmare. I will evaluate this at a...

    Using CIFS/NFS as datastore

Hi all, Same thoughts here - but wasn't able to successfully use NFS as well. It might be that proxmox relies on a filesystem controlled by the backup server... but would be glad to get a clarification... Thanks Tobias

Yes, that was the last facepalm in 2017 for me.... it's been the wrong kernel and I checked and didn't see it. In addition, the update to proxmox 5.2 wasn't somehow complete. after an apt-get install proxmox-ve again it works now flawless. tobias

    ProxmoxVE will change LICENCE?

Hi Ray, Yes. And the licensing is really fair - just added a new machine... very fair and fast deployment. To be honest: I'd rather pay double the amount than having to change to another product because proxmox stops developing it. ... for my part... I don't like to have religion in a...

    ProxmoxVE will change LICENCE?

That, indeed, would be great, but I see a problem there: You could (in theory) just buy a monthly subscription every three monthes, run the updates and let the subscription expire… To be honest, I also believe that this would top up the administrative work for proxmox big time - so probably a...

    ProxmoxVE will change LICENCE?

True, but there are many possibilities to get a better price from VMware… Depending on the Enterprise, Enterprise Plus etc. license... And it depends if you're a non-profit or normal organization, too. But in general: You're right - I forgot a 0 there  Tobias
