Any updates, how are you guys dealing with that. I have created samba lxc but when i remove and restore backup, it deletes my subvolume. It is very risky to use like this. But i like that i have pure access to the files...

I have tryed different option on SMB from ZFShost->ZFSvm and it failed with degraded volume on raw disk file on ZFShost. So i am going back to this solution with samba lxc + AD. When i finish will write here.

How are you automating the snapshots? You have any scripts? please share :> I think this would be the best solution for proxmox. But i need more time to do it.

Hi, sorry i didn't went with it but it was working. I was able to add PCI card for host os ssd, and passed the motherboard sata controller to truenas VM. On one site i am testing ZFS host mirror pool, made a raw disk on it and passed strip one drive to Truenas VM. I don't know if it will work...

I am now testing maybe a new solution that i dodn't remember reading anywere. So i created Proxmox ZFS volume mirror to let Proxmox figure zfs raid out and in Truenas VM i put 1 hdd in stripe. Working fine, will test performance and stability further. :-D i <3 it when i find a solution(If i did)

Yeah, maybe i can just copy paste configs(zfs,samba) from Truenas to proxmox samba guest:eek:

Thank you for reply, no M2 slot, just internal USB 3 that can be used, i have 2 free PCI slots, the problem is that i could only connect 2 internal drives and only to PCI sata card. As for SAS cables i can't split the drives. So with 2 drives only for Proxmox host and VM's that is not enough.

Thank you for reply, the server already bought, can't return. the controller is HP H220 HBA in IT mode.Nevertheless i am not able to pass the seperate disk to the VM...As the proxmox is booted from the drive that is connected to the card. You have some solution that you use?

Greetings, Please help i spend many days researching the best solution for my needs without obvious result. The thing is that on my desktop home server i have put PCI card, put there 1ssd for PVE, 1ssd for vm's and passed the onboard sata controller and made truenas guest VM and all other...

IDK if it was fixed, but i did fix it for myself. The error was when i was using TruenasVM with connected HDD. After i connect the whole PCI controler(that have the drive) the error disapear (Fingers crossed-its 14days already with 0 errors)
