    Random Restarting

@Glock24 please, give a look to the problems I had with Proxmox in the next thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/halts-alfter-upgrade-to-proxmox-4-2.27715/ The problem is not solved for me, but since I installed fail2ban in all my Linux VMs, I haven't had any single one reboot, so you...

    KVM Snapshot Backup Slow

Hi @matthew Did you solve the issue? I have the same problem and as my kvm VMs grows, the problem gets bigger. I made a snapshot of a live VM just moments ago and for 7 straight minutes the console is blocked and no web petitions were replied. Thanks in advance, Luis Miguel

Advice on filesystem for fast snapshot and backup

Any of you have any experience with snapshots and backups using lvm-thin?

Advice on filesystem for fast snapshot and backup

What about the RAM stuff? Do you really need half of the system RAM dedicated to ZFS? I've read reports about machines rebooting with no reason maybe because of the low RAM. I'm a little scared about this... Besides that, I would like to have complete backups (including RAM) because I don't...

Advice on filesystem for fast snapshot and backup

Forgot to say that VMs are probably going to be LXC, but I could consider changing to KVM if it has any advantages. Thanks!

Advice on filesystem for fast snapshot and backup

Hi there, I need to setup a pair of Proxmox servers. I think I'm not using full HA, because I don't know yet if I'm having shared storage. So by now I'll think that both servers will have independent Proxmox instance. The problem I have with my current VMs is that they get stuck while doing...

    Random Restarting

I'm not sure if what happens to you is the same that happened to me some months ago. It was just after upgrading from 3.X to 4.x (I think maybe 4.2). The machine got stalled and my hosting provider (ovh) just rebooted it. I was happening each 4 or 5 days. I didn't found the problem, but I just...

    KVM live snapshot

Thanks a lot. I'll give a look at it.

    KVM live snapshot

OK. Do you know any way to speed up the dump of the memory, besides using a server with SSD instead of HDD?
  10. K

    KVM live snapshot

Ok, then that's the problem. The time it takes to write the RAM to disk. But the RAM assigned to that VM is 2 GB to 12 GB. Why does it takes 25 GB?

    KVM live snapshot

I've expanded the log while my machine is frozen doing a snapshot and I've seen this: Formatting '/var/lib/vz/images/105/vm-105-state-a20161018.raw', fmt=raw size=26294091776 Is it ok that it says "raw" when my disk is qcow2?

    KVM live snapshot

Hi there. I just made a snapshot of my kvm VM without the memory tick and it ran for 4 minutes. In the meanwhile, my VM was frozen. Any other way to know what's happening?

    KVM live snapshot

Thanks, @spirit I don't know yet if the time the VMs are freezed when I snapshot with vm state is normal. One minute or more for a 8 GB machine is ok?

    KVM live snapshot

That's interesting. Can I do that from the interface or is it just from command line?

    KVM live snapshot

Hi, I've readed some posts and forums (proxmox and out of proxmox docs), but I cannot seem to get the answer. KVM is supposed to have live snapshot, but in all my 4 kvm VMs whenever I create or delete a snapshot, the VM gets completely locked. It doesn't accept connections, ssh drops if I...

    About snapshots and locked VM's

Excuse me if I get to life an old thread, but I cannot find useful info about this. I have 4 kvm VMs and whenever I make or delete an snapshot, VMs get completely locked. They don't accept connections, ssh drops if I touch any key, etc. I mean, it's not "live" by any means. I'm using qcow2 and...

Halts alfter upgrade to Proxmox 4.2

Hey there. After installing fail2ban, my server it's been 12 days alive without problems (before it could only lasts for 2 or 3 days). So for me the problem is solved, but I think this kernel has a problem that makes it halt when receiving an attack.
