    Proxmox VE 5.3 released!

Hi, some thoughts which come to mind ... I assume you have rebooted the server, its worth a try. Else, could you try booting into the previous kernel and try BTW, "read-only filesystem" smells of probably an "fsck needed" on the underlying file system. Can you do a forced fsck on the...

    Auto Scalability Feature

@Alwin Having some sort of "autoscaling group" functionality would be a great addition to Proxmox. Of course, to keep the semantics similar to a "cloud platform", what would be useful is to be able to create a VM/LXC from a remote image url. I have home-grown scripts which download the image...

    Multiple parallel 'qmrestore' executions fail

I know the problem description seems unbelievable but its true ... "works via GUI, but not from commandline". FWIW, I keep these servers updated every week or so, I'll check if the commandline problem is reproducible after a reboot (i.e. using the latest installed packages)

    Multiple parallel 'qmrestore' executions fail

Yes, the first restore is still running, and this is expected. The problem is that the second restore times out within a few seconds. What is weird is that if I restore using the WebGUI, the second job correctly keeps spinning on "waiting for lock ..."

    Multiple parallel 'qmrestore' executions fail

Related to: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/qmrestore-doesnt-reserve-vmid.32260/ The bug of not reserving the VMID is solved, though there is a new problem. My PVE setup: # pveversion -v proxmox-ve: 5.3-1 (running kernel: 4.15.18-9-pve) pve-manager: 5.3-5 (running version: 5.3-5/97ae681d)...

    Proxmox VE 5.3 released!

Hi, It should be a smooth upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3. I have many servers which have worked fine. Can you post your 'sources.list' file? The following command should "just work". # apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade -y You may have to explicitly install the 4.15 kernel if you are on PVE...

Downloading data files from Proxmox node

In addition to the use case of 'download to my workstation', I have a use case that once a backup is done, I need to copy the backup file to a central server. For the file upload idea ... a simple username (password?) box with the destination location would be good to have. (I have a script...

Change the defaults for 'Backup Now'

Hi, I am using PVE 5.3 (with updates). Is it possible to specify/change the defaults for the 'Backup Now' option? The default is always 'local' for 'Storage' and 'LZO' compression. I would like to have 'GZIP' as my default 'Compression' and possibly a different storage location. Regards...

Windows 10 VM failing to shut down

Hi @cos.sys , Has the PVE server been updated underneath? Does the Windows VM exhibit the same behavior after rebooting the PVE server? (Sometimes, I have observed funny behaviors of VMs when the PVE is updated) Regards, Shantanu

    Proxmox VE 5.3 released!

@Alwin I too went through all the wizards and then concluded that maybe ARM emulation is something that could be done on the "arm" version of PVE. (i.e. on an ARM host). The fact that an ARM VM can be created on an x86_64 PVE Host is something that could do with more highlighting (attention)...

[SOLVED] Migrate physiacal Root-Server to KVM

My favorite rsync parameters for P2V are: rsync -aAxXvPSH /root/partition/of/current/machine/ /root/mounted/on/remote/machine/ Note: trailing slash is important :) HTH, Shantanu

    Partition Resize Mistake

Would it be possible to use a GUI based live CD (SystemRescueCD/GParted) to tinker with the partition table and filesystem sizes rather than plain ol' cfdisk. Maybe that might give a better picture of what is going on. :)

    Partition Resize Mistake

Hi, shrinking is not supported from the GUI. As long as you haven't extended the file system inside the VM, I think just putting back a smaller number in the .conf file should work. If you have already increased the filesystem, what I would recommend (off the top of my head) is: * reduce the...

    multiple backups in parallel

Hi @LxnBill, during an "in-use" server yes, it could cause negative side effects, but there are times when this could actually help. The use-case here is when the administrator (IT team) has shutdown all VMs. Now they want to backup-and-transfer all VMs to another PVE server; possibly an NFS...

    multiple backups in parallel

Hi, When I schedule a backup of multiple QEMU VMs, they run serially. Is there any way to make more than one backup run in parallel? (Knowing that my server is not currently loaded, sometimes I can afford to run 4-5 backups in parallel) Thanks and Regards, Shantanu Gadgil
