RHEL7 has been released. guess it just a little while until we get an offical 3.10 kernel from the OpenVZ guys and into Proxmox :)
looking forward to this.
I tested it out as an option for us, but decided that we were too small to be it's target market. It is overly complex for a small deployment with it's insistence on multiple Vlans and server hardware recommendations. This and the lack of documentation around authentication ruled it out for us...
Tom there is a fairly recent ISO for foss-cloud on the sourceforge site. http://sourceforge.net/projects/foss-cloud/files/1.2.20/ (from April this year) And I'm aware that proxmox authenticates against AD. What i meant was that you cant just set up a OU in Active Directory and just configure...
Your really looking at the wrong product for what you want to do. Proxmox is an excelent server infrastructure solution, but it is NOT particularly well designed to move across into the VDI space (Authentication really needs to be able to read from an AD group as a starter).
One of the better...
I have this:
and it works fine for me.. This is multihomed to the internet. Temporary solution in place while we are moving things around. works just fine.
so you want the host to use vmbr0 192.168.10.50. (eth0 should not have an IP address)
the guest machine will be multihomed and have vmbr0 & vmbr1 assigned to it. (vmbr0 - eth0 & vmbr1 - eth1. neither eth0 or eth1 have an IP)
in guest - eth0 will be 192.168.10.51/24 gw 192.168.10.1 && eth1 will...
Relax Marco.. it was a joke ;)
I was just pointing out that you would have to be a little optimistic to expect to run any virtualisation product on something that age.
And yes I realise that you could run containers on it, but at PIII class with probably support for very little RAM, it would...
I've been using it on an old test server Since it was posted. running a couple of Windows desktops (XP & Win7) and it's been rock solid the whole time. I actually think the machine runs faster on this kernel. Obviously there is no OpenVZ, but I dont use that in test.
I just pulled down 3.11 from backports on my test server. humming along nicely. will have to load it up for testing tomorrow.
Interestingly the PVE package info doesnt reflect this change in kernel??
I dont think PVE is the soluton you want (until at least they have a user portal and or API support). It's a perfect backend server environment. it's just not designed around the concepts needed for true VDI. I'd suggest you look at the others as proposed by Mir and add http://www.foss-cloud.org...
how about Ubuntu 13.10 (virt-viewer 0.56). remove all the apps you dont need and then use it as a template for your own installer?
check out tuxboot http://tuxboot.org/download/ for creating your own ISO. (there is also ubuntu-builder, but it doesnt support 13.10 yet that I'm aware of).
Windows 7 has always been problematic for me. i have managed to sync it, but any time skipping and it goes out. (as a side note, windows media player sucks. use media player classic). I have windows XP playing both youtube and windows media player without issue. as long as host server CPU and...
I've found audio sync to be effected by vCPU and overall host server load. try adding a core to the VM or reduce load on the host to improve vCPU time in the VM.
Tim. yes apt-cacher may be want I meant. I'm on leave at the moment without access to the system I setup ages ago so can't check at what it was I went with in the end.
Not being someone with experience with web design and the Proxmox API’s, I was wondering how hard it would be to have a user portal on port 443 that just gave an interface to launch spice (or vnc) consoles for the logged on user? Something like this:
User logs in and can start/stop and Launch...
I also get this. On a second machine I tested against now (both standalone test servers). both hosts had been running VM's for about a month on version 3.0 and were updated in the normal way (aptitude update && aptitude upgrade). Both servers threw this error. first server was upgraded when...
