by opening the console for a linux kvm guest, the german layout is not usable.
f.e.: ä,ö,ü without function, z and y changed ...
in datacenter the keyboard is set to german (de) and in the guest it's set to default.
but a change in the guest to german (de) is not making any changes ...

hiho @ all ...
... I've installed a Proxmox 4 on my server.
Works fine ... except the noVNC-console ...
Neither proxmox-shell nor kvm-guests (linux) get the right keyboard layout, configured in datacenter -> options, set to German (de)
for the linux-kvm-guests, "loadkeys de" is working.
but...
Not fundamentally ;)
Found something more ...
"Clear Type" is the killer for my behaviour ...
It's needed for some apps on lan-side because types are nearly unreadably in fullscreen mode ...
But it's not needed on wan-side ...
ticked it off and now it's really faster when displaying...
I've tried more things to figure out the problem ...
We've installed TeamViewer on all related VMs.
Starting our Business Software directly on the Terminal via Teamviewer works slightly faster than via RDP.
Copied the Software to our SQL-Server and launched it on that host in Teamviewer. Also...
thx for the infos ...
I've tried running our Programm direktly on the sql-machine ... same prob ...
results after a search comin' in "line by line" ...
So I agree with fireon ...
I'll test it with pci-passthrough ...
Which one is preferred for that?
Think, I'll gonna try a passive card ...
we've migrated our complete environment to proxmox.
One of the virtual machines is a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server.
The MS-SQL is also running in a VM on the same host.
Performance is fine ... including disc and network ;)
Only the video performance is not the best.
f.e.: Results of a...
I've done the "default" way to setup proxmox with 2 NIC.
eth0 (production)
eth1 (education)
proxmox and the created samba-share is only reachable from eth0
is it possible to reach the web-gui and the share from eth1 ?
we need to migrate a physical machine to proxmox and i want to copy the...
IO-problem ... thought of that too ...
hdparm on host and guest shows nearly identic rates ...

i'm sorry ... but i don't know how to check sync ...

i'm currently testing proxmox 3.1
(i3 with raid10, realtek-nic for wan access, intel gb nic for lan access ...)
1st VM is OpenMediaVault ... connected to the intel nic with VirtIO
transfer of a 1 GB file from a win7-host to a smb-share works with only 11 MB/s ...

hi folks ...
... i've added a new HD (2 TB) to the server.
It's just one primary partition with 2 TB, filesystem ext3
It's mounted to /storage
Then added a new storage, type "Directory" to proxmox ...
Then I had a view to the status-page and getting wondered!
about 90GB used ?!?!?!
by what...
root@proxmox2:~# df -h /var/lib/vz
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/raid-vms 1.5T 198M 1.4T 1% /var/lib/vz
like described in start-thread ...

ich denke, wir beide könnten auch auf DE kommunizieren ;)
I've installed ProxMox 3.x to a 250GB SSD
I want the storage on a software-raid 10 of 4 sata3-drives, each 1TB.
So i thought, it should be the easiest way to move the mount-point to the new LV
old : /dev/mapper/pve-data --> /var/lib/vz
new : /dev/mapper/raid-vms --> /var/lib/vz
my steps:
