I am using two Synology with NFS folders (one in production, the other in standby) to store the virtual disks of the VMs (datacenter).
And in each Proxmox I have some local disks with ZFS to be able to do snapshoots, but I don't do it due to some ignorance on my part (due to past experiences)...
Yes, when re-editing the text I mistakenly mixed the two. (facepalm)
Now that I re-read your comment, I understand about cv4pve-autosnapshot, it sounds very attractive.
One doubt here:
In case of having to migrate the VM (with snapshots) from server-A to server-B. what happens to the...
Thanks for your list to prevent disasters @Dunuin
I need to read it very carefully, as there are things I don't know (even though I started reading I still don't understand how to use or install some).
(1b) PBC, I didn't know it or that I could use it in Promox.
(2b) Debian USB with PBC
(3b)...
Good advice; I didn't know that.
And since I really simulated a total disaster (no backups) I didn't have any /etc/folder backups.
I want to simulate a total disaster without backups; of course taking note of the previous Proxmox configuration. It will be easier to copy the configurations as...
After a few days busy with other projects, I managed to do all the suggested steps.
Dunion. Where you say that I should use "qm rescan", when I try it without creating the VM it shows me nothing: Only after creating a VM with the same ID it showed me the SSD disks: Perfect!
Sadly, with so many...
It works!!! Thank you @Dunuin !!!:D

Now I need to research how to add a "new" VM (maybe with the same Id) and attach the disks (vm-100-disk-#) from the pool (next step of my simulation).:)
I tried that last night (reading other posts), but no pool appears.
I remember that I even tried typing the data in the fields (in Datacenter > Storage > Add > ZFS > *select your zfs pool*) but it does not show the pool.
I'll post a screenshot when I get home.
Some time ago when I tried to do...
Good day.
I am practicing with Proxmox; my interest is to get the following to be prepared:
Simulate a disaster on Proxmox (without PBS), install a new Proxmox and use the SSD/ZFS/Pool with VMs on the new server.
This, because I want to use a development Proxmox that I could take from the...
Hi lfl
A few hours ago I had a windows VM, with 3 disks (qcow2,scsi,virtio), the vm had been backing up correctly for months.
And today reading that SQL SERVER needs RAW disks for better performance I decided to remove 2 of 3 disks and add new RAW disks.
When trying to do the backup in PBS I...
In my case the file system is XFS (NethServer use CentOS and XFS), I'm sure there must be the equivalent for the file system that applies in your case, which one?
Another example is in stackoverflow.
Maybe this old post can help you:
Expanding a LVM partition to fill remaining drive space
And for a real case. Isn't exactly the same, but some years ago, I use this for a VM in Proxmox:
With no solution, the only workaround was to reinstall my cluster.
This time I was careful to reinstall each Proxmox with an 8GB Swap partition.
I recommend having a Proxmox Backup Server installed on your cluster; PBS is a lifesaver and is quick to restore backups.
+1 for PBS.:)
----
Edit /...
Looks like I won't be spared from reinstalling my 3 servers and recreating my cluster.
Luckily, by having a PBS and recent backups this may be "simple".
Even luckier: I took a chance and restarted my server running the VM/CTs... and they all started.
o_O,,.
Grettings,
I broke my own rule and jump on the recent update and it hit me in the face:
I have a cluster with 3 Proxmox servers (pmx1 & pmx3; pmx2 used just for quorum)
The sequence used to upgrade was:
I upgrade pmx2 (the one just for quorum, it doesn't run any vm) and reboot
Migrate all vms...
Good catch, at work I use a segment as 192.168.22.0/24 but at home I only use the segment of the cable modem 192.168.1.0/24
The laptop have 2 network interfaces (lan and wireless); I'll try to create the* right bridges, so I can go with the laptop to both places.
Thank you
Greetings,
I want to learn/practice more about Proxmox using a laptop (Lenovo) with not a lot of resources:
1 SSD of 240GB, 4 GB RAM
I want to install Proxmox and a light DE like XFCE, so I can work with one or two VMs running (not at same time).
Then I want to practice the backup and restore...
I have a two canvas blocker addons enabled, when I disable the console works again.
I was using this addon for months without issues in FF+Proxmox until now.
I re-enabled one of the addon and it works, I leave this post just in case.

It was working a few moments ago on the console, I...
Thanks a lot t.lamprecht,
Today I'll schedule the server restart. (I was waiting to read an answer for this)
I wonder, if in the Proxmox's forum, apart of posting our issues, exists some kind of announce for upgrades/updates with notes before this kind of issues appear, so we can read before to...
