I have setup DKIM so that mails from our internal network that are sent over PMG get a signature. Now I wonder what to do with our external servers, e.g. JIRA or Gitlab.
Those currently send mails via a smarthost but could be switched to using the local Postfix on each server. One option...
When I run postmap -q firstname.lastname@example.org btree:/var/lib/postfix/verify_cache this often takes up to 15 minutes or more until I get a result. The next second, it returns instantly.
I checked this with strace and noticed that it's waiting for a read lock for the "verify_cache.db"...
As far as I understand the documentation, the whitelist (Configuration > Mail Proxy) only applies to MAIL FROM.
As we use greylisting, I would like to whitelist known servers like this with a regex "mail[0-9].bemta[0-9][0-9].messagelabs.com"
NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from...
I noticed that some spam reports bounce, while others do not:
Oct 7 00:05:15 pmg postfix/local: 8D03AC11D3: to=<email@example.com>, relay=local, delay=0.1, delays=0.07/0/0/0.02, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "j.doe")
Oct 7 00:05:15 pmg postfix/smtp: C5DA2C1361...
I couldn't test it yet as the tracking center doesn't show any data at the moment, but I understand that it's only possible to *also* show greylisted mails.
But I would like to see *only* greylisted mails to get an overview.
Is this possible and if so how?
I understand that PMG's Tracking Center fetches its data from the syslog files (/var/log/syslog, /var/log/syslog.1, /var/log/syslog.*.gz).
We log all mail related messages to "/var/log/mail.log" on other servers, so I would like to keep it consistent on PMG as well.
PMG is configured to allow quarantine access via LDAP users. The LDAP connection to our Active Directory is working and I have configured "mail proxyAddresses" as "EMail attribute names". The list below also shows the additional domains when I double click on a user.
Login with an user...
we have some users that seldomly get spam mails and some who get a lot of them. For the first group it would be good to keep the daily spam reports, as this won't happen daily, but when there is a spam (maybe false positive), the user gets informed.
For the second group, the daily spam...
I am backing up a VM that is running MS SQL Server 2008 for use with GFI MailArchiver. Our company has around 45 users and a mail volume of about 3 Gb per month, ~100 Mb/day. However, the daily backup size on weekdays is around 100 Gb! On weekends with very little mail traffic, the backup size...
I think we have a problem with the disk performance of our Proxmox 7.0 server as a "Windows Server 2012 R2" guest feels sluggish and I guess the values from pveperf should be better.
pveperf with running VM (just one on this node):
CPU BOGOMIPS: 128001.60
I had started a sync from a remote PBS when I noticed that the disk was running full. I stopped the sync, ran a garbage collection, but the disk was still not at the free space value as it was before.
How can I fix this?
The admin guide could be a little bit more verbose than just "Use SMTP HELO tests." (for all the options) ;-)
The general information here applies to "SMTP HELO checks"?
And I found this for Postfix. Same as "SMTP HELO checks"...
I noticed this in the logs (journalctl -p 4) after having updated PMG:
Jul 15 17:10:31 mygateway freshclam: Can't save PID to file /var/run/clamav/freshclam.pid: No such file or directory
Jul 15 17:10:31 mygateway systemd: clamav-freshclam.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'...
we are currently running a local Exchange installation. Mail is fetched via Popcon (so there is an annoying delay when receiving mails). Active Sync is possible through Port Forwarding on our firewall to the Exchange host (access is restricted to our VPN and some IP ranges of carriers...
I have switched the user "user-vm03" for a sync job to some other user and deleted the user afterwards.
Though, it still shows up in some files:
# grep user-vm /etc/proxmox-backup/*
we have two internal PBS and one external one. The external is using remote sync to pull backups from the first local installation.
Now, I wanted to add the (new) second one, but noticed that I cannot specify a port.
This is needed so I can configure our firewall to forward different...
I have seen some articles that recommend to configure the swappiness to 10 or even 0:
Is there a general recommendation what value to use?
I am using a mix of Linux containers and...
I have tested a sync from our local server to our external server (both running PBS 1.0-8) using "user1@pbs" (the sync destination). This worked as expected.
As I now started to use this more regularly, I have "beautified" user names to "user-vm03@pbs", but the sync started to fail...
I have a second PVE server that also has PBS (1.0.8) installed. This second server shall backup the VMs/CTs from the first one.
Most of the disk space is in LVM-thin as this will be used for VMs.
Is it possible to use lvm-thin as a datastorage?
I don't know what kind of information would be...
