  1. build pve kernel parallel

Then after about 3 hours of build, it aborts with the following error(s) .... # Autogenerate blacklist for watchdog devices (see README) install -m 0755 -d debian/pve-kernel-5.4.41-1-pve/lib/modprobe.d ls debian/pve-kernel-5.4.41-1-pve/lib/modules/5.4.41-1-pve/kernel/drivers/watchdog/ >...
  2. build pve kernel parallel

How do you build pve kernel in parallel? The -j flag on make ist completly ignored and building the kernel on a low clocked 32core epyc takes like forever (but well, could use 64 threads instead, which should speedup build times enormously)
  3. [TUTORIAL] Compile Proxmox VE with patched intel-iommu driver to remove RMRR check

Build mainline kernel 5.6 with standard ubuntu patches and zfs 0.8.3 built in [-[ with 5.5/5.6 patches (until zfs 0.8.4 is out) ]-] apt install git build-essential kernel-package fakeroot libncurses5-dev libssl-dev ccache flex bison libelf-dev build-essential autoconf libtool gawk alien...
  4. remove not available intel cpu flags on amd cpu

OK, I found it add: push @$cpuFlags , '-x2apic' if $cpu eq 'EPYC'; in sub get_cpu_options in /usr/share/perl5/PVE/QemuServer/CPUConfig.pm Sould be disabled by detecting AMD CPU
  5. remove not available intel cpu flags on amd cpu

There seems to be an "older" bug in pve - when I enable kvm_amd avic, proxmox would add x2apic flag to and EPIC cpu (which is and intel cpu flag, so no wonder it cannot work) More information: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1675030 I could fix this by my own, so please link me to...
  6. enable multiqueue virtio nics

According to this: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-qm.html#qm_cpu due the lack of ethtool, how would I enable Multiqueue on virtio nics on Windows, and BSD (OPNsense)?
  7. [TUTORIAL] Compile Proxmox VE with patched intel-iommu driver to remove RMRR check

I came over to this thread because I have seen this on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/VFIO/comments/fovu39/iommu_avic_in_linux_kernel_56_boosts_pci_device/ Because I hardly lack of time and I want to update the kernel of my 6.1.8 proxmox to at least kernel 5.6-rc6, maybe someone can post his...
  8. Configure direct pass-through for devices in web-gui

You are working in that? But well, I thought qemuKVM isn't able to do this in first place and VMware has some magic tricks to passthrough an entire disk w/o passthrough of storage controller. I think passing through an entire disk as virtio block device is not what thread opener wants to?
  9. [SOLVED] Connecting an iPad to a VM

Try in passthroughing the device by USB ID, then stop (important) and start the VM again.
  10. [SOLVED] passthrough of usb-controller causes ethernet to stop

I have the exact same setup and I use the CPU internal USB controller for passthrough.
  11. [SOLVED] TRIM SSDs

    https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/pull/7363 Almost implemented stable
  12. zfs_arc_max realtime

Well, if you want to decrease your ARC, you need to free the already allocated memory. https://linux-mm.org/Drop_Caches Running that drop_caches command _should_ free the reclaimable RAM from the ARC. There are some deficiencies in the ZFS on Linux memory management though, which could cause...
  13. IO Delay

I guess it's the use of swap, but if you want a proper analysis, you should give much more information. We're out of crystal balls, you know?
  14. zfs_arc_max realtime

Ehm, you can w/o reboot by: echo "your wanted size in byte" > /sys/module/zfs/parameters/zfs_arc_max and a echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
  15. Ballooning not working on windows KVM

Ballooning still seems to be broke and not only Windows is affected. I created a bug https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1763
  16. Is it possible to throttle backup and restore disk io?

Edit, some more test and results: After this the arc was never beeing increased over arc_min_size, so after it was dropped during vzdump it was limited to 1.47G (=arc_min) instead of the full 7G until I did a reboot. Then I have set arc_min == arc_max and recognized that during a vzdump the arc...
  17. Is it possible to throttle backup and restore disk io?

    I did a vzdump snapshot proxmox-ve: 5.1-43 (running kernel: 4.15.17-1-pve) pve-manager: 5.1-52 (running version: 5.1-52/ba597a64) pve-kernel-4.13: 5.1-44 pve-kernel-4.15: 5.1-4 pve-kernel-4.15.17-1-pve: 4.15.17-8 pve-kernel-4.15.15-1-pve: 4.15.15-6 pve-kernel-4.15.10-1-pve: 4.15.10-4...

  19. Is it possible to throttle backup and restore disk io?

Oh, so this was "only" related to backup jobs. I have a machine with two storage pools, one for root and multiple VMs and one fast for only one VM, I recognized while rootpool is "under heavy load" the VM with its own storage has some freezes. So will my only option to avoid this be to get an...
