Hi,

I’m new with Proxmox.

We have a project that’s upcoming. We have a Proxmox host that’s running on 2.1.
And we want to migrate the VM’s to the new host that going to run the latest version of Proxmox (5.4). The Vm’s are in total 4TB.
What is the best method to migrate the VM’s from the old host (2.1) to the new host (5.4)?
Are there any compatibility issues of the virtual machines?
And about how much time this will take?
We want to carry out the migration in the evening so there will be a downtime. So tips and tricks are welcome. :)

Hi,

You have to move the vdisk to the new server.
I would do this with scp.
What format does this vdisk of the VMs get?

If the VMs will start on the PVE5 can nobody tell you.
Because of this defense on many factors.
I would copy the VM and make a test run before I would copy it finally.
