Hi!

I have a 465 GB hard drive. When install system select all avalible space. When the system is installed and I create a virtual machine available only 98GB. Where the rest space of my disk?

Are you installing from the Proxmox ISO or installing onto a already installed OS?

What does Data Center -> Storage tab show?

Your need to select the other storage when creating the VM.

local is the OS /

local-vm is where you will store VM images

Can you past the output of "fdisk -l" on your server (minus the ")

Disk /dev/sda: 465.8 GiB, 500107862016 bytes, 976773168 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: gpt

Device Start End Sectors Size Type
/dev/sda1 34 2047 2014 1007K BIOS boot
/dev/sda2 2048 1050623 1048576 512M EFI System
/dev/sda3 1050624 976773134 975722511 465.3G Linux LVM

Disk /dev/mapper/pve-swap: 4 GiB, 4294967296 bytes, 8388608 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

Disk /dev/mapper/pve-root: 96 GiB, 103079215104 bytes, 201326592 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

/dev/mapper/pve-root

This is where the OS / Proxmox and other linux software is installed.

The rest of the LVM can be used via local-vm which should be around 369GB.

If you wanted to have more free space you would need to reinstall and adjust the pve-root to be slightly smaller (you could try and do it via a live boot ISO) but I would suggest a reinstall.

However you will not want to go too install as you need available space on the root / for updates & ISO's and other files you will require on the system outside of the VM disks.

If I understood correctly, then I need to reinstall the system. And when installing in the field "root" specify 400GB and for system leave 60 GB and 4GB for swap.

No set root to 60GB for example. this will then leave an extra 36GB free.

Any new VM's will create a new LVM within the free space left after the LVM root and swap has been created

Do you need to store many ISO’s for installation?

You could go smaller but then could find in future you could be hitting the limit of your disk.

I would say 40GB is probably a good size for you unless you need to store lots of ISO’s and other system images.

In DataCenter / loca-lvm (node1) / Summary
392 GB show
Type - LVM Thin

And how to use this space for create VM?

When I create VM avaible only 54 GB

When your creating a VM using the wizard.

Once your on the Hard Disk tab, select local-lvm on the storage drop down

Then under Data Center -> Storage you need to select and edit local-lvm and make sure Disk Image/Container is selected under the content drop down.

And enabled is ticked.

If your not sure attach a screenshot of the current settings under Storage
