Following this guide on the Proxmox wiki I updated the current 4.4 install then updated repos to stretch. The upgrade appeared to completed successfully but after rebooting I'm unable to connect to the web interface.

Running uname -a displays

Linux ernie 4.4.35-1-pve #1 SMP Fri Dec 9 11:09:55 CET 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So I don't think the upgrade worked at all, any ideas what I can do to get the web interface running and confirm which version of Proxmox I'm actually running?

Post the output of:

> pveversion -v

and your source.list files.

chemist@ernie:~# pveversion -v
-bash: pveversion: command not found

sources.list

deb http ://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian stretch main contrib

# PVE pve-no-subscription repository provided by proxmox.com,
# NOT recommended for production use
deb http ://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve stretch pve-no-subscription

# security updates
deb http ://security.debian.org stretch/updates main contrib

As a new user I'm unable to post external URLs or images so I've added a space between http and : this is not there in my sources.list

try the following:

> apt update
> apt install proxmox-ve

if you get any errors, please post here.
