Seems like every time I take a node down it starts a cascade affect I need to move a server into a rack and wanted to know if I was missing something on what I need to do to take it down properly.

Can you please share the following information:
How many nodes do you have?
Are they all configured in the same cluster? (I assume so?)
Are your droplets configured in HA?
Are all nodes in the same HA group?

It sounds like you may have lost quorum which can cause HA droplets to power off until it's restored.

Well I was able to power it down and get it into the rack with no problems. I am learning little by little that my consultant was rushed in the install but this community has been great and I am slowly learning.
