Currently trying out Proxmox on a small cluster of machines. So far getting a few machines clustered is working and all machines are showing healthy. However when starting KVM machines I am unable to use the noVNC console option.
This also applies to the Shell button when trying to VNC directly...
So here's a thought. I have a few old Dell C6100 4 node boxes. Each node can address 3 disk drive bays. The aim is to run the nodes in a cluster with Ceph to have the virtual machine storage distributed. The aim is to only use KVM virtual machines and no containers. The disk division would be 1x...
Bit late to this but my 2 cents. The comparison from Proxmox to VMware seems a little vague as this depends entirely on whether you are a service provider or not. Proxmox for a service provider is actually in many cases more expensive than VMware (by about £2000 per month income on our...
Ok, this is a major fail on my part (some online tutorial also shows it wrong)
I have the mon IP addresses in the format of x.x.x.x,x.x.x.x,x.x.x.x but it should have been x.x.x.x;x.x.x.x;x.x.x.x <<-- yup them semicolons
All working now. Thanks for the responder (udo) though for at least...
When I do this on the CEPH nodes it works fine
ceph -m 10.40.0.33:6789 osd getmap -o osdmap
got osdmap epoch 778
CEPH Server is not on Proxmox as it is a separate stand-alone CEPH cluster so the "ceph" command on proxmox just fails.
ceph -m 10.40.0.33:6789 osd getmap -o osdmap --keyring...
Hi,
Got a weird problem. Proxmox when I try to start a VM says Operation not supported when trying to attach to the RBD image.
The ceph keys are working as I can list the images of the pool on the proxmox host via the command line and check their info.
I did recently add monitors and remove...
Hi
I am using the VirtIO network drivers on a Windows KVM virtual machine and wanted to apply a rate limit to the network for each machine. To test I set the speed to 1MB/s (around 8Mbits) but it seems the outbound traffic is not being limited. The inbound traffic however is. This seems like a...
In addition spirit (I appreciate you help anyway) the CEPH mailing list actually mentions about creating many pools will have a penalty (as such). Lets say we have 5 proxmox clusters which is a reasonably large amount of servers but not too much, if a pool were created for each and each pool had...
I think the concern was about placement group balancing issue that might crop up if pools were to be created willynilly if proxmox clusters are just continuously added on. What if two more clusters are added? Then that would be 2 more CEPH pools and the PG juggling that comes with it...
Hi,
Is it possible to have administrators set the VMID range for a proxmox cluster so that clusters can be made to have their own unique ranges?
For example:
Cluster 1 - VMID 1000 to VMID 1999
Cluster 2 - VMID 2000 to VMID 2999
Reason being that we have a CEPH cluster (separate) and a storage...
Hi All,
Is it possible to have proxmox behind a NAT firewall in terms of VNC? Do the ports need to be forwarded to just one host or all hosts in the cluster?
For example.
host1 - 10.10.10.1
host2 - 10.10.10.2
host3 - 10.10.10.3
firewall - 192.168.0.1 (outside) - 10.10.10.4 (inside)
Do VNC...
Does proxmox support iptables firewalling (ignoring the gui)?
In terms of clustering the idea is to simplify the network model from various vlans + hardware firewall (expensive) to just vlans and iptables. For example, a host vlan and then a virtual machines vlan with traffic going to the host...
Is it possible in Proxmox to limit bandwidth with Open vSwitch on a per VLAN (or bridge) basis?
E.g
bond0 - eth0 eth1
bond1 - eth0.5 eth1.5
vmbr0 - bond0
vmbr1 - bond1
But then have vmbr0 as a whole limited to 100Mbit and vmbr1 limited as a whole to 1Gbit?
Thanks
