Need to reinstall grub - how to boot Proxmox bare metal install CD into rescue mode?

Re: Need to reinstall grub - how to boot Proxmox bare metal install CD into rescue mo I mentioned I tried that - Debian 6.04 (squeeze) can't mount the filesystems for some reason - dmesg shows the error when trying to mount the various PVE LVMs with an 'unsupported options' message. Then it...

Need to reinstall grub - how to boot Proxmox bare metal install CD into rescue mode?

So this is frustrating. I had a power outage and the Proxmox 2.0RC1 system I'm using will no longer boot the hard disk. I want to try to reinstall grub to the boot sector. I can't see how to boot the Proxmox bare metal installer into rescue mode, so I tried an Ubuntu disk I had laying around...

Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM...)

Re: Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM. The process of copying a disk file would work, but I'm trying to do this with minimal VM downtime, and with current filesystem technologies in Linux I can only do snapshots with LVM. ZFS may work, but...

Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM...)

Re: Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM. OK, so here's the scenario. The whole double-copy thing to clone a VM is WAY too much moving of bits. In VMware it's super simple - copy the VMDK/VMX etc to a new directory in the datastore and 'add to...

Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM...)

Re: Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM. OK, that file shows the 'storage container' configuration... but where does Proxmox record, for example, that a logical volume named 'disk-100-1' is located in 'storage container' named eg 'vmdata_1' and is...

Where are disk config files located in 2.0? (want to use cloned LV outside of PM...)

Hi, I'm wondering where the disk config is located in 2.0 - I didn't see it in the FAQ. The reason is that I want to know if I can clone an LV outside of PM (shutdown VM; take snapshot; create LV of same size as original LV; copy snapshot data to LV via dd) and have this disk appear as storage...

Can you map an RDM like in VMware?

I'm a bit new to KVM, so forgive if this is a newb question. In VMware I can present a raw disk device to the guest via some redirect shenanigans. Can you do that in ProxMox/KVM? I'd like a guest to directly access /dev/sd# I don't see any way to add a raw device (in VMware speak) in...

Very poor network performance on vmbr

OK, I found the problem to be the Realtek NIC - the first test I ran I somehow didn't clear out the route and the VMBR on that NIC was still being used as the default route. It works fine on the Broadcom NICs.

    NexentaStor 3.1.1

The same problem with NexentaStor 3.1.2 - it reboots immediately after selecting "Install NexentaStor Community Edition" This is not configured as an OpenVZ container, but as a full VM. I was reading some places saying that KVM may need to be patched to install Nexenta/OpenIndiana (formerly...

Very poor network performance on vmbr

This is a new motherboard and new NIC cards & yes they are all 1Gb. The SCP transfer goes through another device which is 100Mb, so please ignore any misleading info about why it seems slower overall than a gigabit line should provide. The point is that when I use the ETH device I see ~10MB...

Very poor network performance on vmbr

Hi, I'm evaluating whether to use Proxmox on a KVM server I'm setting up, and I'm getting some discouraging network performance results. On the default vmbr0 interface setup during install, copying ISO files over the network to the server is trickling in at 110KB/s. When use a physical...
