Great info Jim. Thank you!
*update* The "Kobuki" method yielded the exact same results as the "alchemycs" method did; 3 of 4 disks are still being ID'd by their wwm-* ID. Also, zpool status output is the same as posted above. Between the two methods mentioned, I would recommend the "alchemycs"...
Agreed. I wish PVE would create zpools by-id during installation. FWIW, I used the method explained by user "alchemycs" here: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-to-import-zfs-root-pool-by-id.24295/
Did you try editing /etc/default/zfs yet?
I am currently testing with all my VMs and...
Just to followup, login to the command line as root via console or SSH and run this single line of code to remove that error message:
# echo "blacklist pcspkr" > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-pcspkr.conf
This worked for me on PVE 5.1
Since your drives are assigned by letter, I'm guessing you may fail to boot again. Best practice for zpools is to assign drives by-id. I am currently experiencing a similar issue. Check this thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-to-import-zfs-root-pool-by-id.24295/
This seems to be a well documented issue. Check out this thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/pve-5-0-driver-pcspkr-is-already-registered-aborting-message.35497/
I think I'll clean up mine as well while we're on the subject :)
Sounds good. I would leave the other disks out for the time being. If you are able to boot into PVE, please login to the command line (via ssh or GUI console) and post the output of zpool status.
Another solution might be to bind your zfs directory to a container and then configure your container as an NFS share. This way you are only modifying users, permissions, and access in a container rather than on the host itself. It worked well for me when configuring a samba server in a...
Another thought, try removing or disabling all drives that are NOT being used as boot disks. When setting a zpool as a boot device during installation, PVE defaults to identifying the disks used in the pool by their /dev/sdX format instead of their actual disk IDs. With all of your disks...
Hi Matt,
Check this thread: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-to-import-zfs-root-pool-by-id.24295/
This issue seems to be going around, but I hope that helps.

First of all, my apologies for resurrecting a 2 year old thread. I have a host running PVE 5.1 which is booting from a raid10 pool of 4x SAS drives. I currently have 2 additional storage pools (created by-id) attached to this host. After making the edit mentioned by dietmar and alchemycs and...
