    Request: Optional monthly backups

Thanks for your quick response. Is there an option to apply an additional file which will not be overwritten by the GUI? The backup is very convenient in Proxmox and one of the most important functions. But what is missing is, a backup strategy which also keeps additional snapshots like monthly...

    Request: Optional monthly backups

The file /etc/pve/vzdump.cron should not be written, as it is automatically generated by the UI. Is there a best practise to let the file as is and add another file for monthly backups?

[SOLVED] Proxmox Error (Can't locate sys/syscall.ph)

Got the same error, as I´m also installing Proxmox on a new Hetzner Server today :-) Try to reinstall perl as the syscall.ph file should be located in this directory (/usr/lib/perl/5.14.2/sys/syscall.ph) which did not exists on install. Maybe its a deployment issue. aptitude reinstall perl

Software and Hardware RAID Performance ext3, ext4, xfs with Proxmox

Hm, this is strange. Maybe I am wrong and someone of our team modified the values during our test on this machine. We just wondered why this old server performs so well while our brand new one was lame like a duck :)

Software and Hardware RAID Performance ext3, ext4, xfs with Proxmox

Just a note: You have to tweak mount options when you do a "from the scratch" Debian installation. If you use the provided ISO files from the Proxmox team they are already set accordingly.

I add some details to the RAID controller, but could not find exact values for the cache. As there is no 2-port controller from LSI with this name I guess its a 4-port controller with 515MB cache like this one: http://www.lsi.com/channel/products/storagecomponents/Pages/MegaRAIDSAS9260-4i.aspx

Software and Hardware RAID Performance ext3, ext4, xfs with Proxmox

We tried various mount options with ext4 without any improvement. If you give me your optimized options for proxmox I would test them and fill the gap.

Software and Hardware RAID Performance ext3, ext4, xfs with Proxmox

Yesterday we tested performance of our Proxmox environment and discovered very low fsync rates. We initially used ext4 which was a major issue on the current kernel. We now use ext3 as this seems the fasted option. Server Hetzner EX 4s Intel i7-2600 Quad-Core 32 GB DDR3 RAM 2 x 3 TB SATA 6...
