Hello!
I'm currently working with a Proxmox 1.9 - Configuration and upgrading is not (yet) an option for me. During the research for speeding up my backups with vzdump (using pbzip2 in a similar way as described here) I asked myself which compression program would provide the savest solution.
So far I didn't managed to get that far so I'd like to ask you: What is the savest compression program to backup a KVM (qcow2)?
My results so far:

My results so far:
- gzip: Rather hard to extract data, see here. Looks like a big file would be lost from the point where the bad sectors start.
- (p)bzip2: Lots of data can be recovered, but how about a big file with a damaged block?
