"unknown" OpenVZ Template

I'm at a loss. I found all of the threads regarding the same issue and everyone says it's a naming error, I tried dozens of different filenames and none of them have worked. What am I doing wrong?

Doesn't work:

centos-5-standard_5.8-1_i386.tar.gz
centos-5-standard_5.8-0_i386.tar.gz
centos-6-standard_6.2_i386.tar.gz

"unknown" means that its not a Proxmox VE template and there is no description available. But this does not mean that it does not work or its not useable.
 
How would I use them in Proxmox then? When I try to select a template it only shows the templates that are not "unknown".
 
no, only the description is missing, you should be able to use it in the template creation wizard without problem.

I just downloaded the following to my desktop:
http://download.openvz.org/template/precreated/centos-6-x86_64.tar.gz

I renamed it to:
centos-6-standard_6.2-1_amd64.tar.gz

then I uploaded it via web interface to the Proxmox VE server and create a new container without problems.
