Proxmox new hardware

Hi all,

I'm trying find a nice hardware to put at home with proxmox.

My Idea is buying a lenovo thinkstation P500 on ebay.

Lenovo thinkstation P500 specs for 500€
XEON 1 x E5-2697V3 - 14 Cores / 28Threads
64GB DDR4
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 510

What do you think about this hardware, should be nice to run some virtual machines?

I think this is a nice hardware for a nice price, but I have some doubts if this hardware it's nice for proxmox.

Hi,

the hardware should work absolutely fine with Proxmox. What kind of storage are you planning to use?

I'm thinking use disks Seagate IronWolf Pro 4TB 7200RPM 128MB SATA III for data (nextcloud, and plex) and ssd for the proxmox system and maybe another ssd for truenas.

But I'm looking for another opinions

@emanuelx hows the ironwolf pro doing in your server ? I’m thinking of getting 2 of them as zfs mirror pool for nfs share and a couple of vm’s . From experience what is you feedback ?

Hi @omar.migs, I'm using ironwolf 4TB 5400RPM, works very good, but I'm using them directly in TrueNas scale VM
