Hi all,

i just am setting up a couple of new nodes and as i've done most of the setup, I overlooked that the whole ZFS raid I setup at installation took the whole disk as local.

Now that means I have no disks to create any DIR/LVM for my CT/VM's

without having to re-format and start again and change my disk structure (4 ssd per node), is there anyway to re-partition the current local so I can create a local-lvm for my CT/VM?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

why did you choose ZFS if you want LVM?

An lvm is only created if you select ext4 or xfs in the installer.
This is because ext4 and xfs are only file level storage and LVM is block level.

If you have a ZFS you do not need a LVM because:
* You can also create a directory storage on the ZFS filesystem.
* You can also store CTs and VMs on a ZFS volume at the block level, just like LVM.

Thanks Markus,

I’ll give the link a good read.

I chose ZFS in installation just to create a raidz setup.

I see what you mean, that’s actually part of the issue, the ZFS I created took all the disk storage and when trying to create a DIR in the node, I get no disk available.

So I think how I should explain, is that I cannot add vm/ct I to the existing Local ZFS that was created.

Somehow your local-zfs is missing, which should have been created by the installer.

Go to Datacenter -> Storage -> Add -> ZFS -> ID: local-zfs, ZFS pool: zpool, Content: Disk Image,Container
This local-zfs storage is similar to a lvm-thin.

There you can also add Disk Image,Container to the directory storage local.

I am glad I could help. But I am wondering why local-zfs was not already there. Did you remove it by mistake?

I've just worked it out. it appears to be a bug of some sort and I replicated it because it was also bugging me too.

So I re-created the node on this server with a fresh installation, and upon creation. It was there. So installation did create it.

But when I added it into my existing cluster. It disappeared and is no longer available through either WEBUI's IP. neither direct node or master
