Installer Debug Shell enhancement

The PVE Installer ISO provides a debug shell, which is very handy to be able to recover from various errors.

I keep all my PVE configuration information on an NFS server in a second location. The easiest way to recover would be to boot the machine in the debug shell, configure the network an mount the backup directories to /mnt and recover whatever is needed.
To do so, the nfs-common package is required, but unfortunatly it's not part of the PVE installer image.

Is it an option to add NFS client support to the PVE installer kernel?

Can you use ssh/scp to get a tar of your data? If you can, that would be immediate solution compared to requesting a change to an installer, that only helps in small base of users. Other options include ftp and tftp.

Good idea. Have you tried just install the package inside of the debug shell? Get an IP, run an apt update and then install all packages you need. You may need to exit the first debug shell (busybox) and wait for the second (Debian).

Edit: just tried the default tui installer, which also comes with a "real" shell in the install OS environment, in which you can switch in tty3 (alt + left, alt + left)

It's absolutly correct - there are other ways to access the off-site data. I've been in the datacenter business for quiet some time and worked with other OSs, that offered this feature, which is really handy
