a little feature request

maybe i have overlooked it.

it would be nice if you could comment on resources (similar to notes in virtual machines), especially hard disks and network devices.

this would contribute to usability, because the system would then be more 'self-documenting'.

sounds like something that could make sense, there is already an open feature request for that on [1]. You can add yourself to the CC list, so you'll get notified if something changes.

as i just have learned the ability to comment on disks and network interfaces would not just be nice but could prevent us from confusion and possibly fatal errors.

imagine you attach a hard disk to a machine to give the machine temporary space. the machine performs some actions using this temporary space. when this job is done you detach the temporary disk and want to remove it. this is straight forward if there is no 2nd (or 3rd) unused disk (which holds data for future use) but how to decide which one to remove if there are other unused disks (you cannot even see the sizes). commenting on disks would make removing disks less error prone.

similar arguments apply for network interfaces (our machines have 4 nics).

maybe someone will take care of this feature request.
