VMs not reachable from outside

Hi

First, I would like to say that I have tried most hypervisors, but proxmox really seems to be one of the best.

Installation and use is easy, albeit with one problem:

I cannot get a proper setup where the VMs are reachable from the outside net. Has tried most combinations, and fiddling around a lot.

Now, I am not a network expert - so I will need some help to get this working, preferably with NAT.

When I set up an Ubuntu server (from the mini.iso) with NAT, it works just fine getting all the packages and such. I can ping the ip-address of my server, and ssh from proxmox into the VM - but not from the outside net.

I have one IP and one network card on the server, and would prefer to leave it that way.

I guess that I will either have to set up the VM with some kind of gateway, or perhaps tweak the proxmox install?

The ip is in the 81.27.xx.xx range, same with the gateway and DNS-es.

Also, if there are any easy shortcuts like redirecting with apache, it would be OK with me :)

KVM NAT mode mean that you can't connect from outside.

If you want normal tcp DNAT you should do that on your firewall (an use bridged network mode).
