I just need to know the template you want to run.

For Debian 6, just use the template provided by Proxmox and you are worry free.

And all the other up-to-date templates like debian-8.0-x86_64-minimal.tar.gz, ubuntu-15.04-x86_64.tar.gz ubuntu-15.04-x86_64-minimal.tar.gz ubuntu-12.04-x86_64-minimal.tar.gz and so on.
I'm just wondering why I can't get them to work, even if I try to rename them.

First, I assume this thread topic is misleading. templates are working, only the console has issues.

The templates from openvz project are not optimized for our console, just follow the howto´s on:

http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/OpenVZ_Console

All templates provided from Proxmox are optimized out of the box.

and changing the subject, too, with "Misunderstanding"? ad solved, solved what???

other people could learn from your published experience, and solution.
even if the issue was caused by a mistake, everyone does mistakes...
even if it was a "misunderstanding"..

nobody removes its post here didn't you notice? can't you figure why?
