Use Host-Filesystem in Guest? (Shared Folder)

Is it possible to use a part of the Host-Filesystem (a ZFS Dataset, or a Directory) in the Guest?
I would like to have my Data directly on the Host with ZoL, but would like to make the File Server Management (CIFS, AFP, NFS, Time Machine, DLNA, etc.) via a VM, for example OpenMediaVault, Nas4Free, etc.

I found this: http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/9p_virtio, but I do not know if this is a good Solution?

Has somebody an Idea how to solve that best?

No
i am busy, but i will do it at the weckend and report back.

It will not work with a standard Proxmox VE kernel.
because there is no support for 9p modules.

If there is no real reason against it. I think we will activate plan9 in the future.

Hi,

this locks good!
I use at home nfs but this looks better.
you can achieved it with the args parameter in the VM.conf file.

http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/9psetup

https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Manual:_vm.conf

I will try it later.

Hi Wolfgang,

Question:
- How do you that exactly with NFS?
- Which NAS-Software do you use?

I tried that Yesterday with NFS. I used sharenfs to export my ZFS-Pool.
I created a Nas4Free-VM and mounted there this NFS-Share.
Then i make the Shares for SMB/AFP in Nas4Free.
But the Speed is not so well :(
I wanted to try it also with OMV, but there i find no way to make Shares from a Directory, because OMV want a Disk.

Any ideas or Suggestions?
