Proxmox and no hardware virtualization

is there the possibility to run 32bit vm on proxmox without hardware virtualization becuase untul now i was not abel to get it run.
i want to get 2 vms on an old supermicro atom board to run. the switch for kvm virtualization has no effect. still cant start the vm.

the switch does what it says, but try to "stop" and "start" the vms, not "restart", it has a different effect.
if it still does not work, it could be something else... perhaps.

the vms are not running at all its a new install on an old supermicro atom board where the cpu has no vt-d at all but only lahf in vmware the server worked but i want to get away from vmware and switch all the servers to proxmox but this old board has some problem to run proxmox without hardware virtualization. so i thougth these 2 vms can run without on this old 4gb server and run these 2 32bit vms (ipfire and agfeo telphone vm) in qemu mode but did not start at all i will add this evening the output of the kvm command that was used.

As I know there is no way to rum KVM-based VM's without VT-x/AMD-v . Make sure your CPU supports one of this options on vendors sites:
http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUResult.aspx
http://ark.intel.com/

To be sure You can check this directly on your server (run in console):

# lscpu | grep –color -i -E '(vt-x|amd-v)'
# modprobe kvm
# kldstat kvm

In case you CPU does not support this options you can run OpenVZ containers only...

yes i know the cpu dont support vt-x so the questions is it possibel to run in qemu only ?

Yes, you can use qemu, but this VM's can't be managed via Proxmox GUI

ok then is it possibel to modfiy the code of proxmox so that it runs qemu instead of kvm ? because every vm on the host would not rin im kvm and onyl in qemu.

Fast answer is YES... But I think much easier get CPU with VT-x and use Proxmox as is

ok thx for the info so the best would be use container and find a firewall distro for a container.

Proxmox 3.3 have integrated NAT and firewall features, and NAT only for 3.2 and older versions.

thx for yout help but i am doing a workaround until the new hardware will be bougt.

i installed virtualbox onto proxmox and added phpvirtulabox added the autostart and bridged the nic to vmbrX so the firewall (pfsense) is running as usually (not fast not slow but accaptiable) the second server i will implement as a container.

yep a workaround but enought for now
