Have any of you ever restored a Proxmox backup to a completely different cluster (like one located on a totally different LAN)?

Do you see any issues with taking a Proxmox VM backup (that was made in a cluster environment) and restoring it to either of the following:

  • A different cluster at a different physical location?
  • A standalone proxmox server at another location?

The documentation probably addresses this when it talks about the fact that you can restore to a different VMID. I'm assuming that means that the backup could be successfully restored to any Proxmox enviroment running the same version of Proxmox.

If you've done this, please confirm.

I have not had any problems moving backups to other clusters or standalone I have just moved a backup from version 1.9 to version 3.3 with no problems.
