We have some intermittent sync issue when syncing between 2 PBS.
Here's the log:
2021-10-31T03:01:27-04:00: sync group vm/108 failed - unable to acquire lock on snapshot directory "/mnt/nas/vm/108/2021-10-30T04:04:17Z" - internal error - tried creating snapshot that's already in use
It's...
Hello,
Is there a way to limit the speed at which PBS backups our servers ? I'm asking because it takes all our NIC bandwith which make our VM pretty much unreachable during the backup schedule.
I've tried to edit /etc/vzdump.conf but it seems to ignore it when using PBS.
Thanks
We updated 2 of our hypervisor from 6.4 to 7.0. Some containers started fine while other refused to start even after a backup/restore.
Here's the error I'm getting
lxc-start -n 133 -F -l DEBUG -o /tmp/lxc-133.log
Failed to mount cgroup at /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd: Operation not permitted

Hello,
I have 2 PBS server with 2 datastores each. Every datastore is synced to the other server like so
From my understanding, both servers should have the same used space since they both hold the same data ?
Right now Server 1 is holding twice the amount of data than Server 2
Server 1...
Hello,
I had a VM with the ID 135 that was re-deployed under the ID 105. To keep the backups from the old machine, I did the following on my datastore:
mv vm/135 vm/105
I then switched the backup job in Proxmox VE to backup the new VM 105.
This seems to work as all my previous backup from my...
Hello,
We have a backup schedule for PBS that run at 23:00 EST everyday. The issue we have is that the naming scheme for the snapshot seems to be built using a different timezone.
An exemple would be if we backup a VM the 21 of May at 23:00 EST, the snapshot name would be 22 of May 3:00
This...
Hello,
It seems the ram usage in the webui is incorrectly reported in our case. The VM is an ubuntu 20.04. The host is running ZFS. Ballooning is off. This is happening for all of our VMs.
Here's a picture of the webui:
and here is free inside the VM
total used...
Hello,
I'm trying out cloudinit to deploy our VMs and so far everything is working fine. I've followed the tutorial in the doc to create the template which worked fine.
The template had a 3GB HDD (scsi0). I wanted to extend the disk of another VM and by accident I extended the disk of the...
We are looking to enable hotplug for the CPU for KVM guests. I've seen that it's only possible with vCPU and not Sockets nor Cores.
Assuming the host has 32 cores, would it be best practice to set
Sockets: 2
Cores: 16
and set the vCPU to 6 or according to the guest CPU need.
If I understand...
Hello,
I was under the impression that the reported CPU usage in the webui for LXC is in % but I'm having doubts.
According to this picture:
is the container using 10% cpu or it has a load of 10 (just like top would report)
Thanks
Hello,
I'm having a issues regarding the ram usage on our hypervisors. It seems there is ram going I don't know where.
The hypervisor has 70GB of usable total ram. The current arc usage is 9GB according to arc_summary. I've calculated the amount of ram used by each LXC containers on the host...
When restoring a CT from a backup, we have the possibility to select the Unique option which generate unique properties like MAC address. It would be useful to have this option when cloning a CT from a snapshot.
Hello,
I'm trying out ceph to see if it would fit our need. In my testing I tried removing all OSDs to change the disk to SSDs. The issue I'm facing is when trying to delete the last OSD I get hit with an error "no such OSD" (see attached screenshot). The command line return no OSD so it's like...
Hello,
We backup some folders on our hypervisor by doing a snapshot of the root dataset zfs snapshot rpool/ROOT/pve-1@borgWe could then backup the folder /.zfs/snapshot/borg/ which contained all of our files.
The issue is that since version 6.0 this snapshot folder is now empty so I was...
Hello,
Would it be possible to include this fix in the pve ZFS package. The bug would cause a hang/deadlock on the hypervisor when using snapshot heavily (especially the rollback) which the only way to fix the zombie processes was to reboot.
Thanks
Just upgraded to 5.4 and I can no longuer create a CT. When trying I get the following error:
extracting archive '/mnt/pve/nas/template/cache/ubuntu-18.04-lts_18.04-1_amd64.tar.gz'
tar: ./var/spool/postfix/dev/random: Cannot mknod: Operation not permitted

Hello,
I'm trying to use this monitoring script for Nagios which monitor LXC cpu and ram usage.
https://www.claudiokuenzler.com/nagios-plugins/check_lxc.php#CommandDefinition
The script uses the command lxc-cgroup
I tried
lxc-cgroup -n 101 memory.stat
which return nothing and no error...
Hello,
There seems to be a problem with one of our server where the arc_prune is stuck in D state. Sync from the initramfs-update never completes and wait on something which make me believe it's the arc_prune.
The server is a Dell R710 with 142GB ram and SSDs
I also have a bunch of errors...
How would I go about monitoring the CPU usage for an LXC container ? Solutions like in Nagios reads /proc but since the CPU are shared we get a lot of false positive.
Example:
CT A has 4 cores and uses 2 at 100% - 50% total CPU usage
CT B has 2 cores which are shared with CT A - 100% CPU usage...
